Dear St. Ann Parish Family,
My name is Alexis Yakich and I am a senior at Illinois State University studying Recreation Management. I have been a parishioner of St. Ann’s Church my whole life. My parents, Larry and Beth Yakich, are active parishioners serving Mass as Eucharistic Ministers and are involved with the Knights of Columbus and the Venturing Crew.
While I have been at ISU, I have gone on backpacking trips with campus recreation for spring break. They have been great experiences and very self-rewarding; however, after my last trip this past spring, I felt called to do something more this coming year. This November, I applied to go on a mission trip with the Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS) and I have been accepted to go on a mission trip to Honduras March 5th – 13th, 2016. Now, I am asking for your help. The team of college students and missionaries going to Honduras need to raise money to make this trip happen. Individually, we each to need to raise a total of $2,200 by February 5th, 2016 and the time until then is going to pass by very quickly. This money will pay for airfare to and from the mission location, food, lodging, and the many programs and food we will be offering to the people of Comayagua, Honduras.
The mountain villages of Comayagua, Honduras are very isolated and the people there do not receive many visitors. They do not have easy access to the Sacraments as we do here within the Diocese of Joliet. Many of the people have never received the Sacraments and as a result of our mission, they will get the opportunity to. In addition to offering the Sacraments, we will bring hope to the people sharing the merciful love of God through our programs for the youth, young adults, and adults.
