Payment maybe made online with a credit card or the team manager can print the order form and send a school purchase order, money order, school district check, or cashier’s check. TXCPSO does not accept personal checks for registration or t-shirt and pin orders. The T-shirt and pin order is optional. Coronado High School is the location of the Technical Challenge- Show and Tech, Fine Arts- Vanished, Service Learning, Ready Challenge- Willing & Fable, Instant Challenge, and the Xtreme-Excavation. The Scientific Challenge-Top Secret, Improvisational-3-Peat, and Engineering Challenge –In It Together are located at Monterrey High School.

As a safety measure, the Texas DI Executive Board has instituted several measures to provide a sense of safety to our teams, team managers, and supporters. Additional security officers have been employed for all venues. Every person that is attending the state tournament will be required to wear an Events Pass Wristband at all times. All teams will be provided with nine All Events Pass Wristbands at their regional “Going to State Meeting”. Supporters will purchase an Events PassWristband and this will allow the purchaser to attend all events.

All EventsPass (Wristbands) will be available online at $10.00/each, for all events. Team Managers are asked to order All Event Passes for parents and team supporters. The team manager will collect the money from the supporters and parents and make one purchase. Online purchases of Event Passes must be completedby March 10, 2017 and All Event Passes are nonrefundable. Please purchase carefully. If a supporter has not purchased All Events Pass (Wristbands) by March 10th,supporters will have the opportunity to purchase online beginning March 11th at The cost of the All Event Pass online is $12.00. Please encourage your parents to purchase by March 10th. A letter is enclosed for you to give to the parents. Those people who do not purchase Event Passes online prior to the Tournament will be able to purchase the wristbands onsite Friday night. The cost for the Event Wristband will be $15.00 if purchased at the tournament.The wristbands will be sold at United Supermarket Spirit Arena on Friday night and in the foyer of Coronado High School and Monterrey High School on Saturday. Children three and under will be given a wristbandat no cost that they must wear this at all times. The wristbands for children three and under must be ordered with parents’ Event Passes. As you enter new venues, please show your Wristband to the security team. Event Wristbands will be given to you by your regional director.If you have supporters that are unable to purchase the Event Wristband, a “Hardship EventsWristband” application is enclosed with this letter. Event Passes are nonrefundable.

The Overton Hotel and the Hyatt Place in Lubbockis off limits to teams and supporters. Any teams that stay at or visit this hotel during the tournament will not be scored for advancement purposes, but will be allowed to showcase their performances.

As in the past, the Friday night tournament favorite –team mixer party - is planned for the teams. The team mixer party will be held at the United Supermarket Spirit Arena from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Your team should plan on attending the party and trading regional pins and other items representing your region. Pins are to be traded only and not sold. The Spirit of DI is to trade pins in a friendly manner. We encourage the teams to bring regional pins to trade. Please check with your Regional Director if you wish to buy regional pins. The DI-me store is located at the on the concourse of the United Supermarket Spirit Arena. The Silent Auction will be located in the area of the DI-me Store. All money raised from the Silent Auction goes to Texas DI Scholarship Fund. Team Managers will register their teams from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 pm in the United Supermarket Spirit Arena in the Citi Bank rooms.Registration is open only to team managers. If you have ordered pins or t-shirts, you will pick them up at registration. Competition begins early Saturday at Coronado High School and Monterrey High School.

The TXCPSO, Inc. Board of Directors voted to prioritize scheduling requests. Over 475 teams participate at the state tournament and it is impossible to honor every request that is received.

Priority List for Affiliate Tournament Scheduling

  1. Teams doing multiple challenges and/or Team Members on multiple teams.
  2. Team Managers of multiple teams
  3. Team Managers with children on other teams
  4. School related scheduling requests (UIL, etc.)
  5. Maintaining consistent times between TCand IC(Avoiding times in excess of 3 hours between TCand IC.)
  6. Families with children on multiple teams
  7. Other scheduling requests

Team Managers will receive a Team Manager pin. When you pick up your scores for your central challenge, the Head Appraiser will give you pin for each team manager helping with your team. Please pick up your scores. We do not mail scores out after the tournament.

There will be one closingceremony this year. TheClosing Ceremony will begin at 7:30 PM. The ceremony will be at the United Supermarket Arena on the Texas Tech Campus, doors open at 6:30 PM. Team members are required to wear their regional T-shirts and be seated with their region in assigned areas. Only team members and team managers are allowed to sit in the region’s assigned seats. Confetti Eggs and Silly String are prohibited at the closing ceremony.

Each team advancing to the affiliate tournament is required to furnish one volunteer for four hours. Each volunteer is to go to the link: and complete the questionnaire. The volunteer will be scheduled as not to conflict with their team’s performance. Vera Hayes, volunteer coordinator, will provide more information to your volunteer after the competition schedule is set.

Texas was allotted 144 slots for Global Finals plus ties and all university teams.At least five places plus ties will be advancing to Global Finals from the Affiliate Tournament. The actual number advancing from each site will be posted on the website a few weeks before the Affiliate Tournament. Destination Imagination allotted more spots for PROJECT OUTREACH than the other challenges.

Following each Closing Ceremony, Team Managershaving teams advancing to Global Finals in Knoxville, TN will meet in the Citi Bank Rooms (where you registered your team. Team Managers of teams that are advancing must attend this meeting. Each team will receive information about “Going to Globals” and information from the state office about Global Finals. The meeting is only open to Team Managers, District Coordinators, and Regional Directors. All cellphones will need to be turned off during this meeting.

Teams and Team Managers are not permitted to view the competition sites before Saturday morning. Teams with early morning performance times may view the site one hour before their performances.

TEXAS DESTINATION IMAGINATION AFFILIATE

TOURNAMENT GUIDELINES

Welcome to the Annual Texas Destination Imagination Affiliate Tournament. Over 500teams consisting of more than 3400 students are expected to compete this year. In order to assure that everyone has fun and an equal chance to compete, a few guidelines must be followed.

REGISTRATION:

Registration and T-shirt pick-up will be at the United Supermarket Spirit Arena in the Citi Bank rooms. The team manager is required to show the Declaration of Independence Form, the Expense Report, the Tournament Data Form(s) and Medical Forms. A copy of the Media Forms will be taken up at registration. Only the Team Manager should be in the registration area.

Late registration will be at CoronadoHigh School in the front foyeron Saturday from 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM. The Team Manager is required to show the Declaration of Independence Form, the Expense Report, and the Tournament Data Form(s).

All EVENT PASS (WRISTBANDS):

Teams and team manager wristbands will be given to each team by their regional directors. Each team is guaranteed a wristband for each team member and two team managers.

Team managers will purchase All Event Wristbands for supporters online under Pin and T-shirt orders for$10.00 each. The team manager will collect the money from the parents and supporters to pay for the Event All Event Wristbands Children under the age of three will be given a free wristband, but parents must order the free wristbands online. The wristbands will be mailed in advance of the tournament. Any supporter that has not purchased the All Event Pass (Wristbands ) by March 10th will be able to purchase online beginning March 11th at

People that have not purchased the All Event Wristbands prior to the tournament will be able to purchase the wristbands on Friday night at the Team Mixer or on Saturday in the front foyer of Coronado High School and Monterrey High School.

FRIDAY NIGHT EVENTS:

The DI-me Store and Silent Auction are located at the United Supermarket Spirit Arena.All money raised from the Silent Auction is used for Texas DI Scholarships. Check on-line at for listing of items for the Silent Auction.

SATURDAY:

Competitions begin promptly (check the schedule on-line after April 1st) at Coronado High School and Monterrey High School.

An information booth will be located at CoronadoHigh School. Please check the booth for information or announcements to the manager/teams. The registration area will be the central location for lost and found items.

Video and flash cameras are not allowed unless permission is secured in advance from the performing team.

All electronic devices that make a sound must be turned off during each performance.

The Closing Ceremony will begin at 7:30 PM at the United Supermarket Spirit Arena. The doors will open at 6:30 PM.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Formal intervention (Dialogue Request Form) can only be pursued by Team Managers for rule interpretation and procedural irregularity. No formal intervention can be sought for a subjective appraisal decision. If an intervention is needed for reasons stated, Team Managers must follow the appropriate procedures found in the Rules of the Road.

Please remember that your team has thirty minutes after receiving the Dialogue Form to complete and return the forms to the head appraiser or challenge masters. It is the team’s responsibility to pick up their scores.

Texas is allotted 144 slots for Global Finals plus ties and all university teams. At least five places plus ties will be advancing to Global Final from the Affiliate Tournament. The actual number advancing from each site will be posted on the website a few weeks before the Affiliate Tournament. Destination Imagination allotted more spots for the Service Learning Challenge than the other challenges. Global Finals is to be held at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville May 23-27. If a tie should occurall teams tied will advance.

A mandatory meeting for the team managers advancing to Global Finals will be held immediately following theClosing Ceremony. This meeting is for team managers, school coordinators, and regional directors. Please turn off your cell phones at this meeting. Your team must be represented. At this meeting you will be given information regarding the changes to housing at Global Finals.
