Dear Parents/Guardians,
There are a couple of topics I would like to go over. The first thing is homework. We will be starting homework today. There will be homework Monday through Thursday every week. Homework will be handed out each day. There will be no homework on Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays. Each Monday your child will receive a spelling word list and reading log with their homework pages. The homework pages are due to me each morning as your child walks into the classroom. Every Thursday there will be a practice test on the spelling words for homework. Every Friday your child will have a spelling test in class. Your child’s reading log is also due on Fridays. Please ensure your child reads for at least 20 minutes each night for homework and writes it on their reading logs. Please also make sure that you sign at the bottom of your child’s reading log to say that you checked your child’s reading log and saw that they read each day for homework. I highly encourage you to sit down with your child each night and listen to them read a story out loud to you. This will help to expand their vocabulary and knowledge of the English language.
The second thing I would like to go over is classroom supplies. I would be extremely grateful to you if you could donate some much needed supplies to our classroom by Monday, August 28, 2017.
1. 2 black and white marble wide ruled Composition notebooks
2. 1 two pocket paper or plastic folder
3. a pair of blunt tip student safe scissors
4. 1 box of Crayola markers
5. 1 box of Crayola colored pencils
6. 1 box of Crayola crayons
7. 1 pack of Expo markers
8. 1 pack or box of Huggies baby wipes
9. 1 bottle of hand sanitizer
10. 1 paper towel roll
