Dear Parent/Guardian

YEAR 6 WOODLANDS TRIP

The whole of year 6 went on a residential camping trip to Woodlands. They were all well behaved, enjoyed the nice weather and had a lovely time together. It was a great experience for them all.

YEAR 6 MUSICAL ‘MOVE IT’

It had it all – singing, dancing and a great storyline.

Year 6 excelled themselves in this performance to the whole school in the day and family and friends in the evening.

A huge congratulations to them all for a superb performance.

BIKEABILITY HOLIDAY COURSE

If your child is leaving year 6 and missed out on Bikeability, you may want your child to do a catch up Level 1 and 2 Bikeability course in Barnstaple, running on 14 and 15 August. There are also Level 3 courses for those who completed Level 1 & 2 but your child must be progressing to secondary school after the summer holidays to be eligible.

Courses are free, funded by Devon County Council, bookings are essential. See http://www.westcountrycycletraining.co.uk/whatson.html for full details and sign up information.

SUMMER SING UP COMPETITION

Well done to Mrs Morris’ Year 3 class for their 2nd place position singing ‘Walking on Sunshine’. The joint winners for KS2 this time were Year 5 with ‘Consider Yourself’ and Year 6 singing ‘Never Forget You’.

The Year 5 song was staged to enable the class to put the message across brilliantly with clever actions and some lovely confident solo parts.

Year 6 have been a stand out class for singing all year, helped by Mr Chopra’s love for music. This song really was something else. The lyrics fitted where they are at in their journey ending their time at Yeo Valley and it was an extremely moving performance.

Well done to Miss Green and Mrs Kinnish’s class for joint 2nd place in FSU and KS1. The winners were Miss Batchelor’s class singing ‘Minibeasts’. It was a super confident performance with great actions.

REMINDERS

If your child is currently in year 2 they will have had access to a free school meal under the DfE Universal School meal scheme.

This stops in year 2 and does not transfer to year 3. You will therefore need to either complete a FSM form or will need to pay the £2.10 a day for each meal in September 2017.

FSM forms were sent out to each child and some have been received back into the school office where they will be sent to DCC to check for authorisation. We will let the relevant parents know when this is received. Further forms are available from the school office if needed.

30 HOURS NURSERY ENTITLEMENT

Parents/carers need to complete the application form before end August 2017 to be able to use in the Autumn Term.

If you have any problems please speak to either Miss Green or Mrs Wright.

GOODBYE AND GOODLUCK!!

We will be saying goodbye to some members of staff who are leaving today. Ms Cooper, Mrs Longhurst and Mrs Swann are leaving today. Mrs King and Mrs Phillpotts are retiring. We would like to thank them for all their hard work and commitment and wish them all the very best of luck in all they do.

Please take the time to visit the lost property box in the hall and claim any of your children’s missing items.

Anything left will to be disposed of.
