HELPFUL INFORMATION FOR NEW HIRES

Welcome to the Nest

“Welcome to the Nest” is our new employee orientation program to help you learn more about the University of North Florida. During this day-long program, you will meet representatives from many departments across campus who will provide you with information you will need as you join the UNF family.Part of your day will include a walking tour of our beautiful campus, so please dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes*. During the day, you will also have yourOsprey ID card made, learn about our employee portal calledmyWings, set up your UNF e-mail account, learn more about our annual and sick leave benefits and other insurance/retirement benefits. At the end of the day (at approximately 4 p.m.), you’ll have the option to speak with HR representatives, complete paperwork or report to your department. You'll be tired, but you will have not only taken care of the "business" of starting employment at what we think is the best University in the state, but will also have met some great people and learned more about this place we call home.

What to bring on your first day

  • Photo identification (unexpired driver’s license, state ID, school ID, military ID, passport, etc.)
  • Social security card or birth certificate; or passport
  • Voided personal check (for direct deposit)

Where to park on your first day

When arriving on campus for orientation, you’ll need to first stop at a Parking Services kiosk to enter your Visitor Parking Code for a complementary temporary parking pass. There are Parking Services kiosks at both the I-295 entrance and the Kernan Boulevard entrance, as well as in the parking garages on various floors. Please park in the parking garage Building 38, next to the Arena, second floor or above. The kiosk is located on the second floor. Make sure to park “nose-in” so that your license plate is visible from the driving lane. Make note (or take a picture) of your vehicle license plate to enter at the kiosk. At the Kiosk, press 2 for Pay by Plate Parking using Department or Event Codes. Enter your license plate number and follow the on-screen prompts to activate your parking permit. (Note: the state of Florida does not use the letter O, only number zeros.) The kiosk will print a receipt of purchase – this does not need to be placed in your vehicle window.Human Resources will provide the parking code to you via email on the Friday prior to New Employee Orientation.
