POSITION

of the 3d International Zagir Ismagilov Musicians Competition

1.  Founding idea and Aims

This Competition pays tribute to the memory of an outstanding Bashkir composer Zagir Ismagilov and his musical achievements, and seeks to discover young and talented musicians.

1.1. Aims and objectives of the 3d International Zagir Ismagilov Musicians Competition (further - Competition) are:

- Preservation and development of arts education, professional development of artists in the preparation of secondary and higher education institutions to identify and support young talents, to provide an appropriate environment for their creative development;

- Development of creative linkages between institutions of the Russian Federation and foreign countries;

- Activation of the cultural life in the regions, drawing attention to the cultural potential of Bashkortostan;

- Work with young people in promoting classical art;

- Professional development of teachers in the field of musical art.

1.2. The founders of the competition are: Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bashkortostan and Ufa State Institute of arts named after Zagir Ismagilov.

1.3. The organizing committee is formed by the founders.

1.4. The Competition is held from 7 to 16 November 2016 in Ufa on the basis of Ufa State Institute of arts named after Zagir Ismagilov.

1.5. The symbolism of the contest, logo, sketches of medals, models of the booklet, certificates and diplomas are approved by the organizing committee.

1.6. The judges will consist of respectable composers, musicians and scholars.

2. Conditions of participation and enrollment

2.1. The Competition is open to young musicians from around the world – artists of concert organizations and musical theaters, teachers, undergraduate and postgraduate students of higher educational institutions and students of secondary vocational education.

Participants are divided into two groups, juniors and seniors. The junior group consists of those aged 17-22 (14-19), and the senior group consists of those aged 23-32 (20-32). The competition is held in two age groups for nominations:

Vocal (The 1st group - from 17 to 22, the 2nd group - from 23 to 32),

Piano, violin, cello, double bass (The 1st group - from 14 to 19, the 2nd group - from 20 to 32).

2.2. For participation in the competition are submitted to the organizing committee the scanned copies of the following documents:

- A completed application with a full program of tours (with the author, the title essay, key, opus, duration);

- Completed pages of the passport;

- Document of musical education or background music from an educational institution;

- A creative feature-school recommendation (for students) or the recommendation of a famous musician, musical figure or the head of the concert organization;

- A brief artistic biography (education, names of teachers, the title of laureate at the competitions, participation in festivals, concerts, record);

- JPEG photo not less than 640x480 pixels.

These documents must be sent before September 19, 2016 to the e-mail:

2.3. Each candidate will be notified by the organizing committee for admission to the competition no later than October 10, 2016. The candidate must confirm their participation in the contest before October 10, 2016 and notify the organizing committee (no later than one week before arrival) the date of arrival, time and flights, train number.

2.4. Documents sent to the organizing committee will not be returned.

3. The order of competition

3.1. Auditions are held in public on the nominations of several tours:

Vocal -

The 1st age Group - 2 Rounds (1 qualifying and 1 final with instrument and (or) a`capella (folk song),

The 2nd age Group – 3 Rounds (2 qualifying and 1 final with orchestra);

PIANO, VIOLIN, CELLO (1st and 2nd age groups) - 3 rounds (2 qualifying rounds and 1 final with orchestra);

Bass - Round (1st and 2nd age groups) – 3 Rounds (2 qualifying and 1 final with piano accompaniment).

3.2. All works must be played from memory.

3.3. The sequence of appearance in the competition is determined by a draw and retained until the end of the competition. Each piece can be performed only in one round.

3.4. Each participant is given an acoustic rehearsal (20 min.) in the hall, which will host the audition. Finalists receive one rehearsal with orchestra (45 min.).

3.5. By the final round will be allowed no more than 6 participants in each group for each nomination.

3.6. Decisions by the judging committee cannot be altered.

3.7. The judging committee may decide to reduce or terminate the contest program execution outside the scope of the regulations or in the event of an obvious result of execution - with the consent of all members of the judging committee.

3.8. The member of jury who is a participant`s teacher, in the discussion and voting on that contestant does not participate.

4. Awards

4.1. Awards are bestowed separately for Juniors and Seniors.

4.2. In each nomination are awarded the title of laureates and winners, as well as the possible presentation of diplomas to the accompanists and soloists for the best performance of Zagir Ismagilov.

4.3. Participants not admitted to the final round will be awarded with diplomas.

4.4. State and public organizations, creative unions, media, institutions, companies and individuals in agreement with the Organizing Committee may establish special prizes. Determination of laureates and winners of special prizes takes place at the final meeting of the judging committee.

5. Financial conditions

5.1. Payment of all costs associated with staying in the Competition (a round-trip ticket, accommodation, per diem), is made by sending organizations or the participants themselves.

5.2. Foreign participants obtain their passports and visas themselves for entry into the territory of the Russian Federation. If necessary, the organizing committee sends an invitation to the contest.

5.3. The organizing committee provides assistance to participants and accompanying persons in the booking of hotels (on request) and attending competitive events.

5.4. The organizing committee does not provide contestants, their accompanists and other accompanying persons with any kind of insurance.

Note:

a) All works performed from memory, preferably in their original language;

b) Work performed in one round, can not be repeated in other rounds;

c) Changes in the program are allowed in exceptional cases, only in consultation with the chairman of the judging committee;

g) The procedure for execution of works in all rounds can be changed (by the participant);

d) The presence of musical material (the score and orchestral parts) must be agreed in advance with the organizing committee.
