We are pleased to present our Stone Mountain Field Trip Literary Contest!

Georgia United Credit Union, through its commitment to education, is launching a wonderful opportunity for up to eight (8)Elementary School classes to win an “Antebellum Life” field trip at Stone Mountain Park this fall!

What is included in this opportunity?

This educational activity will allow your students to learn about the daily activities of the Pioneer and Antebellum Georgians. You will be able to immerse yourselves in Georgia history and engage fully by being directly on the Georgia Antebellum trails!

Georgia United will pay all transportation costs and provide full admission for up to twenty-five (25) students, one (1) teacher and up to three (3) chaperones per classroom!

How can my class enter to win, what are the eligibility requirements, and when is the deadline?

To be eligible to win, each class must write one (1) creative literary work as a collaborative effort on any subject matter pertaining to Antebellum Georgia. It must be less than 500 words and may consist of a short story; a poem; or an essay, which covers actual historical events. Illustrations are strongly encouraged, but are not required to win.

All entries must be postmarked by Wednesday, September 17, 2014 and must be received no later than Friday, September 19, 2014. Winners will be announced by Friday, September 26, 2014.

This literary competition is open to all Elementary school classrooms of the 15 School Systems that Georgia United partners with.

Stone Mountain Field Trip Literary Contest – Complete Contest Rules

1. ENTRY: No purchase necessary to enter or win. Contestants will enter by submitting a literary work to the address listed above. Approximate Retail value $700.00. Odds of winning are determined by number of entries. There will be NO substitution of prizes.

2. ELIGIBILITY: This contest is open only to schools, whose school systems have a partnership with Georgia United Credit Union. Rockdale County; Dawson County; Henry County; DeKalb County; Forsyth County: Clarke County: Whitfield County; Laurens County; Madison County; Morgan County; Newton County; Dublin City; Dalton City; Social Circle City and the Catholic Schools of the Archdiocese of Atlanta are eligible. Each entry/submission must have the teachers’ and schools’ name clearly displayed

3. WINNER SELECTION: Employees of Georgia United will judge the contest. Submissions will be judged on their creativity and originality. All decisions of the judges are final. All entries must be postmarked by Wednesday, September 17, 2014 and must be received no later than Friday, September 19, 2014. Winners will be announced by Friday, September 26, 2014

4. PRIZES: Georgia United will pay for Eight (8) classestransportation costs and provide full admission for up to twenty-five (25) students, one (1) teacher and up to three (3) chaperones per classroom

5. WINNER NOTIFICATION: Winners will be notified within 14 days after the determination date. Inability to contact a winner may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner.

6. GENERAL CONDITIONS:

a. Participants hereby grant Georgia United a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide license to broadcast, publish, store, reproduce, distribute, syndicate, and otherwise use and exhibit the Submission (along with their names, voices, performance and/or likenesses) in all media now known and later come into being for purposes of trade or advertising without further compensation.

b. Georgia United is under no obligation to use any Submission or return the Submissions to participants.

7. USE OF CONTEST INFORMATION: All entries become the property of Georgia United. Georgia United reserves the right to use any and all information related to the contest, including submissions provided by the contestants, for editorial, marketing and any other purpose, unless prohibited by law.

8. CONDUCT: All contest participants agree to be bound by these Official Rules. Georgia United in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any person it finds to be tampering with the entry process, the operation of its web site or is otherwise in violation of these rules.

10. LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY: Georgia United is not responsible for late, lost or misdirected email or for any computer, online, telephone or technical malfunctions that may occur. If for any reason, the contest is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention or technical failures of any sort, Georgia United may cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the contest. Entrants further agree to release Georgia United from any liability resulting from, or related to participation in the contest.
