Dear HASC member:

Thank you for your dedicated support of the Healthcare Administrative Simplification Coalition (HASC). Your commitment to finding ways to reduce administrative complexity and duplication throughout our health care system is crucial to our ability to relieve employers, insurers, consumers and providers of this unnecessary $300 billion annual burden.

Because of your support, HASC has made tremendous progress in pursuing its mission during the past year. As partners, we havesupported the Council for Affordable Quality Health Care (CAQH) Universal Credentialing Datasource and CORE project astwo viablesolutions to achieve our stated goal; we have also backed efforts by the Workgroup on Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI) to implement ANSI standards for the core information on patient ID cards; and we have initiated workto encourage and supportreal-time claims adjudication.

Much more needs to be done. As we move forward in 2007, the Coalition will focus its attention on several key areas to stimulate additional public dialogue: collaborating withCMS on releasing the final rulefor claims attachments, continuing to define real-time claims adjudication and implementing a communications campaign targeting the employer community.

As we discussed at the December HASC meeting,it is now time to invest additional resources. This year, we are introducing a membership fee structure. We hope we can count on your leadership as one of the original “steering members” to join the Coalition attheSponsor level of $5,000 per year. Your membership dues will be put toward new activities that sustain the momentum of HASC. In return, your organization will receive an array of benefits including attendance at special events, banner ads on thedeveloping HASC Web site— and public speaking opportunities, among others.

Checks for your 2007 HASC dues should be made payable to "MGMA/HASC". Please mail them to :
