Dear Eighth Grade Parent/Guardian:
This is an important decision making year for you and your eighth grade child. Information can be found regarding the courses and programs available through Hackensack High School at (www.hackensackschools.org). Later in the school year, every eighth grade student will have an individual conference with the school counselor. At that time, long and short-term goals will be discussed and a tentative schedule of courses for their freshman year at Hackensack High School will be selected.
You may want to explore high school options other than Hackensack High School. Some of the options available and important information regarding them include:
Parochial High School: Information on the Cooperative Admissions Exam can be found on the COOP Website http://www.coopexam.org/ and the Ninth Grade Applicant Record form can be downloaded from the home page. Website says to call for open house dates.
IMPORTANT: Return Ninth Grade Applicant Record form to Guidance Office upon registering for COOP Exam
Bergen County Academy and/or Bergen County Technical High School
Open House Registration Site: Opens October 1, 2014 at http://bctsopenhouse.bergen.org/. Students attending an Open House will receive instructions about the online application and a booklet.
Open House dates for BCA: October 19, October 26 and November 2, 2014 at 11:00 AM or 2:00 PM
Open House dates for BCTHS: October 8, October 16 and October 21, 2014 at 4:00 or 7:00 PM
Student Online Application Site: Opens October 15, 2014 at http://portal.bergen.org/schooladmissions/. Applications must be made online by the deadline of December 16, 2014.

Open House dates: October 22, November 13, December 4; all at 6:30PM
