Dear Earthlings,

The University of Nebraska Kearney and Concordia College are excited to host the 7th annual “Outer Limits Swing”, December 7th and 8th in the twilight zone of Kearney, Nebraska. On Saturday the 7th, the Concordia squad will host the “Cobbers are from Mars” half of the swing followed by the “Lopers are from Venus” half of the swing on Sunday the 8th hosted by UNK. Both tournaments will be held on UNK’s campus.

We will offer competition in all eleven AFA events and appropriate elimination rounds. Ties in preliminary rank and rate will advance all tied competitors to the final round. First place will be awarded to the competitor with the lowest cumulative rank. Ties in finals will be broken on predominance of 1’s, judge’s preference, and finally rating points. Ties in team points and individual sweepstakes will be broken on numbers of finals followed by number of 1, 2, 3’s. Individual sweepstakes is open to any competitor who has four or more events.

Points for team and individual sweepstakes awards will be as follows: 10 for 1st, 8 for 2nd, 6 for 3rd, 4 for 4th, 2 for 5th, 1 for 6th. Ties in team sweepstakes and individual sweepstakes will be broken by number of finalists, then number of 1’s, 2’s, 3’s, etc.

EXTEMP CROSS-EXAMINATION: To provide an educational experience for Extemporaneous speakers preparing for future tournaments, cross-examination will be implemented in finals for both days of the swing.

ENTRY FEES: $6.00 per slot. $12.00 per uncovered slot. We need your judges more than your money so please, please, please help us by bringing judges. Each judge covers 6 slots.

LUNCH FEES: It is important to us that your competitors are offered adequate sustenance. Therefore, we will add $3.00 per competitor/tournament to compensate for the food, drink, and paper products.

DIRECTIONS TO UNK: All Kearney hotels are along Highway 44 near Interstate 80. Travel north on Hwy 44 (aka 2nd Ave.), over the viaduct and continue north until you reach the stoplights at Highway 30 (aka 25th St.). Turn left (west) and continue around a slight curve in the road until you reach Bruner Hall of Science. There you will find a visitor parking lot close to Copeland Hall. If this lot is full, continue driving west on Hwy 30 until you see a huge electronic message board. Turn right (north) and drive until you reach University Drive.
