When he was two, our son, Eldon, was a happy, healthy little boy until something went very wrong. Suddenly, he wanted to be carriedeverywhere and would only play with histrains while lying in bed. He didn’t have the words to tell us that his own immune system was attacking his bodyfrom the inside and he was too weak to walk or sit up. He was wasting away in front of us and we couldn’t help him. Then our lives changed forever when he was diagnosed with Juvenile Myositis.
Juvenile Myositis (JM) is an incurable, life-threatening disease. Each year, about 1,000 children are diagnosed. JM can cause muscle pain, weakness, fatigue and can attack nearly all systems of the body. JM often causes a wide range of medical complications. It can be treatable, but oftentimes the treatments are worse than the disease itself.
But your support can help give Eldon a healthy and happy childhood.
Generosity of friends and families of children with JM havefunded numerous research studies and helped to establish dedicated JM research centers in Chicago and Washington D.C. But there is much more work to do, and your support is vitalto funding new research opportunities.
