INTERNET SAFETY PROJECT

Project Due Date: April 22, 2011

Instead of an objective test, I have decided to let you show me what you have learned in our Internet unit. You may choose from the following topics:

Cyberbullying

Citing Sources

Social Networking

Sexting

Online risks (such as hackers, viruses, spam, etc.)

Evaluating Resources – Internet Validity

Protecting yourself online

Copyright and the Internet/Fair Use

Ethical Behavior and The Internet

Netiquette

Stealing Music by File Sharing (Why it’s wrong . . . what’s the debate?)

You may choose one of the following projects to show me what you have learned:

Write a rap (which must be performed)

Write a song and perform or record it

Create an illustrated book

Poster

Pop Up Book

Glogster (online poster)

Online book (zooburst is one example)

Make a model (I think this would be hard to do with these topics.)

Write and perform or film a skit

Devise a game for the class to play

Other: If you have another creative idea, ask me for approval.

A picture and a label next to it are not enough for this project. I must be able to tell that you understand the concept and the safety implications with it. You will be graded on creativity, knowledge and accuracy of subject, and completeness. You will only have one, possibly two, class period to work on your project. The rest will have to be done at home. If you have any “down” time in class when you have finished an assignment, you can work on your project. (Because not everyone has paid their fees, I am low on toner for the printers. Therefore, if you have not paid your fee for this class, you will be unable to print pictures here at school. Sorry!) You may use the resources I have given you in class, but you should probably find some on your own, too.
