Guidelines for Reading Level 5 Homework – Revised January 24, 2011
Readers are looking for overall satisfactory level of meeting requirements. The questions are:
- Did the student complete the assignment in all its aspects?
- Is it at a passing standard?
- Would you feel good about graduating this student?
Students who are borderline in meeting the requirements may be asked to provide a rewrite of one or more assignments if this seems practical to complete before class ends. Students can also be asked questions about their homework to give the instructor/reader more clarity on what a student understands or doesn’t understand; thus helping to determine if graduation is possible. Please refer to Level 5 confirmation letter or the section on website for homework expectations.
- PPN
- Is there an actual notebook and content that reflects basic materials?
- How much effort went into the PPN?
- Can anything be done during Level 5 to improve it if it lacks completeness?
- Resume
- 1-2 pages (not a Curriculum Vitae listing all research/published articles)
- Appears professional
- Includes list of Level 1-5 classes, dates, location, name of HTCI
- Use of acronym HTPA?
- Documentation of 100 sessions plus 15 intakes…
- 10 selected sessions on top showing variety of sequences/methods
- Is it reader friendly and organized?
- Legible?
- 5 sessions can be combination of animals, long distance and/or 2:1
- Indicate length of each session
- Use of HT methods worksheet
- Not perfection but growth since HTP Level 4
- Watch for “too many methods” and appropriate use of methods/sequences
- Documentation shows all 10 steps and rationale for methods
- 70-80 full sessions- 45 minutes or longer (All 100 can be full length)
- Up to 20-30 shorter sessions with sufficient documentation of all ten steps
Organization of 100 sessions quoted from Level 5 Confirmation letter:
“Please organize your documentation sheets as described below. This differs slightly from the Level 4/5 workbook description. You may add a personal note to your reader describing how you have organized your session documentation, including describing any abbreviations or coding used.
A. Place together all intakes and sessions related to a specific client in chronological order so that the Level 5 reader will be able to see how you are developing case management skills over time with particular clients.
- Place all multiple sessions from any individual client together in chronological order, including the Intake Interview form if one was completed. Keep these organized at the beginning of your 100 sessions.
- The remaining documents may be organized by full length sessions, short sessions or dates of service based on how you prefer to organize them.
- Regarding the ten sessions that you chose to represent your current level of practice, documentation skills and ability to use of a variety of techniques, please mark with a colored tab placed on the documentation sheets (all ten the same color). These tabs are available at an office supply store. Do not use sticky notes because they easily fall off. You do not have to place these 10 documentations sheets at the beginning of your sessions as described in the Level 4/5 notebook. Just mark them with a tab, which will make it easy for your reader to find the sessions you have selected.
- Identify the 15 documented samples of your intake interviews by marking them with a
colored tab. (This tab should be a different color than the one used for the 10 documented sessions.)”
