You will be stretched physically, mentally and spiritually. You will have the opportunity to begin life long friendships and influence campers in their walk with Jesus Christ. Being on summer staff will be hard work and it will take a lot out of you. But, you will find investing a summer at a Christian camp is a valuable and life changing experience that you will not regret!

The purpose of the Camp Rivercrest is to evangelize, build Christian character, and to train Christian leaders. We are seeking staff who have committed their lives to Jesus Christ and want to learn more about God through serving and relating to others. Each position is an opportunity to reflect the life of Jesus Christ as you come into contact with campers and staff. This application form is designed to help us appraise you for this important task. All of the information requested below will be kept strictly confidential.

2012 Summer Staff Positions

The ministry of Camp Rivercrest is dependent upon summer staff that is committed to carrying out our mission. Summer staff have the incredibly large responsibility of being a Christ-like example to campers of all ages. We expect our summer staff to live a life that honors God at all times, not just while camp is in session. Therefore, it is necessary for all applicants to:

·  Be a committed follower of Jesus Christ

·  Maintain a positive attitude throughout challenging and exhausting situations

·  Demonstrate the love of Christ in all of their words and actions.

·  Abstain from the use of tobacco, alcohol, and/ or illegal drugs regardless of personal beliefs

·  Follow all guidelines listed in the staff handbook

·  Use discernment in choice of dress, appearance, and language

·  Serve wherever needed, regardless of job description

All jobs run from June 3rd- July 28th, 2012

Pay Range: $180-220 per week. Depending on position and experience.

SUMMER MINISTRY TEAM:

Male and Female positions available, must have completed one year of college or be at least 19 years old by June 1, 2012

The summer ministry team is responsible to lead a group of campers including building friendships, one-on-one interaction, activity leadership, and much more. This person will need to be an enthusiastic leader, sensitive listener, positive role model, servant, and friend to every kid in the cabin. Must possess a mature and active faith in Christ and an ability to lead creative Bible studies. Need to have a love for, rapport with, and some experience working with elementary through high school students yet be able to be assertive and disciplined. Must be in good health and be prepared for a physically and emotionally challenging summer. Summer ministry team will rotate through counseling, activities, kitchen support, and other various camp areas.

PROGRAM MINISTRY TEAM:

Male and Female positions available, must have completed one year of college or be at least 19 years old by June 1, 2012

The Program Ministry is responsible for the facilitation and safety of the mini bike area, paintball area, high ropes, and other program areas. They are to ensure that campers and staff are being safe and following all of the rules that Camp Rivercrest maintains. Must be assertive and not afraid to give directions. Should create a fun environment and good rapport with kids. Must be willing to be flexible to help out with other areas as camp leadership assigns. You will be trained in all the areas and rotate through them. Experience in belaying, bikes, or paintball is preferred but not required.

Program ministry team will rotate through activities, kitchen support, and other various camp areas as well.

PROGRAM ASSISTANT:

Two positions available one male and one female. Must be at least 22 years old by June 1, 2012

In addition to the summer ministry team responsibilities the program assistants will be responsible to work closely with the program coordinator to lead the summer team. Must be strong leaders and able to work alongside the summer ministry team, encouraging the team and holding peers accountable for meeting expectations. They will be responsible for nightly activities, MCing chapel times, and meal organization. The program assistant must be a strong communicator with an outgoing personality. They will also spend time every day with kids, helping to relieve the summer ministry team members so they can have breaks throughout the week. In addition these people must be approachable and available to staff at all times, seeking to build relationship with, lead and care for the staff and their needs daily!

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (LDP) STAFF:

Two positions available: one male and one female. Must be at least 21 years old by June 1, 2012

The Leadership Development Program is in two parts. The first is Leader In Training (LIT). These teens will spend two weeks of their summer learning what it means to be a leader. They will learn how to serve the Lord with their specific set of talents and abilities. They will stay as a group for both weeks (going home on the weekends) doing teambuilding activities, helping around camp, an opportunity to serve outside of camp, and spending time in Gods word.

The second part of LDP is Counselor in Training (CIT). These teens will also spend two weeks at camp. The first week they will spend as a group doing team building activities, learning what it means to work at camp, spending time in God’s word, serving in various ways at camp, and helping with camp programming. The second week they will spend in the cabins with the campers as junior counselors.

This program is very specialized and it is almost a completely separate program from the other summer camps that are going on. LDP staff must be strong leaders and have a heart for discipling, encouraging and holding high school students accountable. They must have the ability to work as part of a team and also independently, be very organized and able to lead sessions. LDP staff may also rotate through some of the other summer ministry responsibilities. Experience in working with teens and teaching is helpful.

MEDIA SPECIALIST:

One position available, must have completed one year of college or be at least 19 years old by June 1, 2012.

This person will shoot video throughout each week of camp and edit raw footage down into a 8-10 minute, action-packed camper video be sold to campers and parents at the end of each week. Will be responsible for photography every week and will upload pictures from what is going on to the camp websites and facebook 3 to 5 times a week. Will maintain all equipment regularly. Must have significant related experience, technical aptitude, creative abilities, and rapport with kids. This position also helps with running the sound system during chapel times.

SNACK SHACK MANAGER:

One position is available, must have completed one year of college or be at least 21 years old by June 1, 2012.

The Snack Shack Manager is responsible for supervising and operating the Snack Shack (the camp store). Duties include operating and balancing a cash register, selling products and candy, inventory and ordering supplies and supervision of the staff assigned to you. Plus, other duties as assigned by camp leadership.

NURSE:

One position (per week) available this person must be first responder certified, EMT, Paramedic, Physician or an RN by June 1, 2012. Must have a provisional certification to dispense medications.

The nurse is responsible for the health and safety of the campers and staff. They will be held accountable for keeping accurate records of health logs, keeping the first aid kits stocked, health screenings and communications with parents. The nurse also helps counselors manage sick and homesick campers.

LIFEGUARD:

Must have completed one year of college or be at least 19 years old by June 1, 2012

Must be certified. Should be able to maintain chemicals and high quality water and a clean pool area. Must be assertive and not be afraid to give directions and create a safe environment by making sure all safety standards are followed. Should create a fun environment and good rapport with kids. Must be flexible and also be willing to pitch in other areas (maintenance, evening games & programs) when needed.

OFFICE ASSISTANT:

One position available, must have completed one year of college or be at least 19 years old by June 1, 2012.

The office assistant is responsible in assisting the administrative assistant in the daily functions of the office. Tasks could include processing bank money, answering and directing phone calls, sorting mail, processing paperwork, assisting the nurse in administrative tasks, and assisting in many other projects.

Must relate well to parents and have strong organizational and secretarial skills. Computer skills are a must.

KITCHEN HELP:

Three positions available must have completed one year of college or be at least 19 years old by June 1, 2012.

In the kitchen you will help with various kitchen duties from food preparation, washing dishes, serving and cleaning up meals, mopping the floors, and other assignments from the leadership.
