Dear 2nd Grade Parents,February 28, 2014
Greetings from the Northampton Music Department! This letter is to let you know that the entire 2nd grade will be participating in a program this semester called ‘Cruising the Countries’. Students will be learning multi-cultural songs and dances in their music classes. We will perform for the school during the day on April 15 and 16. We will have an evening performance for parents on Tuesday, April 15 at 6:30 P.M. Students will need to arrive at school that evening at 6:00 P.M.
For the performances, students will need to dress in a plain white T-shirt and jeans. Each class will make various countries’ flags which will be worn around their necks.
There will be some speaking and dancing parts assigned through audition. If you would like your student to be considered for a speaking part, please sign and return the bottom of this letter. Students will audition the week of March 17 during their music class. The bottom part of this letter is due at the time of auditions. Students auditioning for a speaking part will need to memorize the following lines:
Italy’s capitol is Rome. The modern country of Italy was founded in 1861 and is called Italia by its residents. When it’s 7 A.M. in Texas it is 2 P.M. in Italy.
If your child is chosen for a speaking part they will get a new assignment.
