Dear Friend of the Festival:
The Central Maine Egg Festival Committee would like to encourage your business to become involved In the Egg Festival this year. Our regular meetings take place the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 pm in the Council Chambers at the Pittsfield Municipal Building at 112 Somerset Avenue.
Our group is very small this year as most of the officers and directors from the last few years have resigned due to employment changes and medical or personal reasons. At this point, we have four (4)membersregularly attending meetings. To put on a festival the magnitude of the Egg Festival requires a group of at least 12-15 people. The last few years of lower revenues have resulted in having a very small bank balance for 2017 and the need to raise $15,000 - $19,000 to keep the festival alive. We really want to be able to have the Fireworks this year which people enjoy so much.
This year’s theme is-“Musical Egg-spression” – so everyone can join in!
The Central Maine Egg Festival provides a great attraction to Town during July resulting in a large economic impact forthe region. Non-profit groups earn most of their year’s profitsfor community projects during Egg Festival week. Over 28,000 people visit Pittsfield during this week which promotes our community and the region. It is a week that many people come back to town to visit friends and family and it is traditionally has been a week of family events. Most of all, it is a week for the children.
Steve Cianchette from the Greater Pittsfield Area Kiwanis Club has volunteered to be the President so that we have a leader. Kathryn Ruth, Town Manager has volunteered to organize and plan activities so that we can move forward. The 2017 Festival is scheduled for Monday, July 10 – Saturday, July 15, 2017.
If your business has any employees who could volunteer to be on the Committee to attend meetings or plan an event, it would be wonderful. We would be grateful for your financial support in any amount that you can afford this year. We want to keep the Egg Festival tradition alive – after all it is the 45th year of the Central Maine Egg Festival. And wouldn’t it be great if we could celebrate our 50th year in five (5)year’s time!
THANKS so much for your support!
Steven Cianchette, President Kathryn Ruth, Publicity Chair
