DCOM Packet Submission Guidelines
To help the Dover District Committee on Ministry receive and read through your yearly paperwork, we are implementing a new policy regarding how you turn in your paperwork. We request that all files be created and submitted as PDF’s and then bound together as one single file. This helps our DCOM both print your packets and view them on our laptop/tablets.
Saving Word Files as PDF
- When you are ready to save your Word document, click on “Save As” and name the file.
- Then, under “Format” choose “PDF” as your file type before clicking on Save.
Saving Scanned Items:
- When you scan documents (bulletins, transcripts, etc), please save them as PDF’s. Do not save these items as JPEGS or other formats.
**Tip- you might want to save all your PDF’s in a “DCOM” file on your desktop or “My Documents” so that you can easily find them.**

Binding Your PDF’s Together (Mac):
Use these steps to move pages between PDF documents.
1. Open one of the PDF files into the Preview app of Mac OS X
2. Click on the Thumbnails button and choose “Thumbnails” to open the side drawer of PDF pages (do this even if one of the PDF files is only a single page length). This can also be accessed from the “View” menu by choosing “Thumbnails.”
3. Now go to the Mac Finder and locate the additional PDF files you want to join to the one that is already opened in the Preview app.
4. Drag and drop the additional PDF files from the Finder into the Thumbnail drawer of the Preview app to instantly add it to the PDF- this adds the dropped PDG’s into the already open PDF doc, effectively combining them. You can repeat this with as many other PDF documents as necessary.
-To Add an image file as a page, simply drag an image file into the
Thumbnail drawer.
-To reorder the pages of a combined PDF, simply drag and drop them
within the Thumbnail drawer to their appropriate position.
-To remove a page, simply select it and hit the “delete” key to drop it.
5. When Finished adjusting, pull down the “File” menu and choose one of the following depending on the version of OS X.
- “Print,” then choose “Save as PDF”- this works in OS X El Capitan, Yosemite, and Mavericks
- “Export as PDF” works in prior releases of OS X
6. Save the new file as usual and exit Preview when done.
7. You can double-check that it worked by re-launching the newly created PDF document that you just exporting from Preview App, it will contain all of the PDF files that you dragged and dropped into the Thumbnails app to join them.
