Women Walking in Grace

Lesson 8

The Transformation of Grace: What a Difference Grace Makes!

Day One: A Difference in My Perceptions and Attitudes

Read each of the following Scripture passages. What attitude should you have toward God? Toward yourself?

1. Romans 8:31–32

2.  1 Corinthians 15:10

3.  1 Timothy 6:6–7

4. Titus 2:11–13

Challenge: Try praying this from an honest heart every day this week: “Lord, I am willing to receive what You give, to lack what You withhold, to relinquish what you take, to suffer what You inflict, and to be what You require.” Does this change your perception of and attitude toward God’s grace?

Day Two: A Difference in My Participation in the Body of Believers

Colossians 3:12–17 gives a list of qualities that result from God’s grace working in our lives.

1.  What do these verses say about how God thinks of us?

2.  Which of these qualities enable us to minister God’s grace to others?

3.  Choose one quality and ask God to increase it in your life. Which did you choose?

Day Three: A Difference in My Purpose

Romans 12 also challenges us to be transformed by God’s grace. Read it with your life in mind.

1.  According to this passage, which parts of our being does God want to transform?

2.  Who else is affected by our transformation?

3. What evidences of your life’s transformation have you asked God to make apparent to others? Are they apparent to you?

Challenge: Is your life an example of the transformation of grace? Briefly tell how.

Day Four: A Difference in the Personalities of People in the Bible

1. Read each Scripture passage and tell who was transformed and what his or her life was like before God took over.

Jonah 3:1–10

John 8:3–11

1 Corinthians 15:9–10

2. Read this passage and tell who will be transformed and what the ultimate transformation will be like.

1 Corinthians 15:51–54

Challenge: Can you think of other Bible personalities who exemplify how God can change a life?

Day Five: A Difference in My Perspectives, My Pursuits, My Peace, and My Prayers

1.  What difference do you think this study of God’s grace has made in your life—including your thought life—in the past eight weeks?

2.  Which concepts or Scripture verses have you felt compelled to share with someone else?

3.  What does Philippians 1:6 promise you?

4.  Write out a short prayer to the Lord, expressing your gratitude for His transforming grace in your life.

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!

Hold o’er my being absolute sway!

Fill with Thy Spirit till all shall see

Christ only, always, living in me!
