3.NCJLA
Girls -Don Aiello reported on his attendance at the monthly NCJLA meetings for the girls’ division. The Association needs to identify a parent volunteer to take on the role of attending these meetings, which resume in June. The DLA anticipates fieldingfour girls’ teams A-1, A-2, B, and D inSpring 2008.
All teams must register by 11/30/07, and any withdrawals must be made by 1/1/08.
Boys -The DLA anticipates fielding the following teams – Boys JV, Junior boys, Pups (grades 5&6) and Pee Wees (grades 3&4)
The NCJLA also has voted a $50 increase in NCJLA registration fees.
4.Co-SponsorshipDon Aiello reported that co-sponsorship paperwork has been submitted to the City of Davis.
5.Fall ClinicsDon Aiello reported that the Fall Clinics are doing well, with 82 players participating at all age levels.
6.Fall BallDon Aiello reported that, as of this date, only 2 players have signed up for the girls’ Fall Ball and 12 for the boys’ Fall Ball camp.
7.CoachesDon Aiello reported that we currently have six viable coaching candidates for the various boys’ teams. Don Aiello will coordinate individual interviews of the candidates with at least one other Board member. Rex Berry reported that only one girls’ coach has committed to coach, and one Assistant Coach has offered to help. The Association needs at least four, and possibly six, more coaches for girls’ teams. Don Aiello and Dan Reeves will coordinate postings for coaching job ads. Rex Berry will continue to contact potential candidates and Jane Eadie to seek candidates.
8.CIFJack Latow gave a report as the representative of the Davis High School Boys’ Lacrosse Boosters. He identified Judy Beachler as the budget and finance contact and Ron Brown as the uniform contact. The Boosters have determined that players will need to purchase new helmets for themselves, and that the Association will purchase new uniforms to be owned by the Association. Helmets and uniforms will match the DHS color scheme.
A motion was made by Kurt Snipes and seconded by Dan Reeves to “split” the books of the Boosters from the Association books to better track the expenses and revenues of the Boosters. The motion was passed.
The Association will continue to retain oversight over the Boosters’ books and must approve all Boosters’ expenditures.
9.Treasurer’s ReportKurt Snipes and Don Aiello will ensure that the Association tax return is filed prior to 9/30/07. As no parent volunteer has stepped forward to act as the Association’s accountant, the Association will hire a private accountant to prepare the tax returns. The River City Bank
Account has $10,761.40 as of 8/31/2007. There are $385.00 in un-cashed checks.
10.New Board CandidateDon Aiello will approach Jack Latow about possibly becoming a new Board member. Judy Beachler’s name was raised as a potential candidate.
