Minutes of the Committee Meeting for 12th March 2014 were confirmed and signed having been circulated in advance.

Matters Arising Secretary said that he had been in touch with Jill Howard as he had believed that the times of Annual General Meetings had been decided for the autumn by CILIP. This, it seems was not so , our AGM will as a consequence be in June Meeting.

Correspondence – none

Financial Report - £660.51 in current account. £570 on deposit.

The sum of £760 has been refunded to CILIP. It was sent to us in error. CILIP has refunded to us £60 for bank charges for 2013. Hammersmith still owe us £15 for a course.

“Successful course design and production.” The Secretary had produced a draft for the Committee's approval, which it received. After discussion it was decided to put the draft onto word processing disc so that corrections could be made easily and Anne offered to do this. There was further discussion about how it might be produced electronically and that Amanda ought to be consulted about how it might be published.

Visits programme Alan reported. In December 2013 they had visited the Inst. of Civil Engineers and he was arranging another visit to them. On February 5th, a visit to the London Library to mop up his waiting list. February 25th to the National Army Museum. They saw the Templar Study Centre and some unofficial war records, such as diaries and letters. The Curator was in charge of the library. They were looking to publish much of this material. 15 went. April 23rd visit arranged to the RAF Museum at Hendon. A mopping up visit to the British Film Institute on 7th April. Plans were going ahead for a visit to the new Birmingham City Library in July which is to be a

joint visit with the National Committee. A visit is planned for 14th October to the Royal United Services Museum. Alan said he had dome a survey to see if there was enough interest for a visit to Portsmouth Naval Museum. He had had 8 expressing interest so would probably proceed with it.

Some future possibilities;

Royal Inst. Chartered Surveyors; RIBA, and Welcome Library. Finally Alan said he was struggling with the camera but hoped to be expert soon.

2014 programme Anne had had a meeting with ARLG, the charge had been sorted out and Karen Blakeman had agreed to talk and help with other speakers and researching scholarly journals. The programme was not complete; the date had been fixed for 9th July 1.30 to 6.pm. and bring your own sandwiches. perhaps a pub visit at the end. ARLG had problems with charging, they wanted differential charges, £40 for non-members, £30 for CILIP members and £20 for students and unemployed. This would need allocation of numbers to each category to make sure costs were covered. Karen would charge £210. It was decided that speakers who did not charge a fee should receive a £25 book token as a gesture of thanks and goodwill. The Committee offered a vote

of thanks to Anne for her work on putting the course together.

Discussion items The need for archiving old material was mentioned.

Vicky spoke about the Newsletter. Emily had submitted a piece about herself and Zsuzsanna would supply one for July. Past members of the Committee were still being searched.

There being no further business the meeting closed at 4.15pm.
