SENIOR NIGHT

Date: The head coach will set the date for senior night. It is usually the last home game of the season.

  • Senior night is traditionally handled by the parents of the junior classmen. They host the senior parents on the field for a tailgate party. All senior parents are welcome. The boys do not attend, they are with the team.
  • The senior cheer leaders also participate in the announcement and go first. The parents go to their son’s number painted on the side line and their son will run to them when announced. OR, the parents and son walk out together when announced.
  • Verify with Deanna that all player and cheer parents get into this game for free. At a minimum the senior parents do.

Tasks

Parent Gift –The parents/player pictures are taken on team picture day. The players give these to their parents as gifts when they are called onto the field. The photographer gives the Booster club a flash drive or disk with the picture. The pictures can be printed out at Walgreens (cpn), Costco or Target. The pictures are framed in 8x10 black frames, which can be purchased at Joann’s and Michael’s using coupons and at sales over the course of Aug-Oct (cost goal is $5 or less per frame.) Framed pics are then wrapped, thank you notes attached and brought to senior night in player number order (small to large) so the boys can pick them up as they line up to join their parents.

Invitations to senior parents-The envite should be sent 30 days in advance. Follow up with parents who did not RSVP beginning 15 days prior to the event. On the day of the event, send a reminder email to all parents stating time and place. Ask the Booster Club board for the emails and addresses.

Sr Night Questionnaire- Draft a questionnaire for the cheerleaders and boys to complete (usually a few weeks in advance at one of the pregame meals. Use the questionnaire to write a script that starts with the cheerleaders and then players in jersey number order (smallest up) for the announcers. Make sure you recognize parents who are on the booster board, coach, webmaster, or photographer. #XX, Name, son of Names of Parents/Guardians. Nameplans to/likes (I selected 3 things for each player.)

Thank you Notes– Thank you notes are created (can be purchased and embellished). These are distributed to the senior players in a baggie at a pre-game meal with a pen to write a note to their parents. The note is turned in before they leave the meal. They are then returned to the Parents Gift coordinator who will attach them to the framed and wrapped picture.

Menu planning/Securing food (chili, pulled pork, chips, a fruit or veggie tray (one or the other, don’t need both) cookies, bars, cupcakes are some of the things used in past years as well as donated bars/cookies). We bought 4 gallons of chili at a discount from Texas Roadhouse for 75 attendees and it was just enough. The team sets a menu, asks local businesses for donations, and asksjunior parents for donations. You also need plates/bowls/cups/utensils and serving ware. Coffee (ask for BREWED coffee donation from Caribou or the Bean) and Hot Choc were popular, one case of water is enough. Pat Cullen (Patrick Cullen ) from concession will help with the hot chocolate. The leftover treats are sent to the locker room for the boys. The team managers can help you with this.

Site Mgr: Set up and take down coordination with AHS including coordinating with the HS for tables/chairs and coordinating with concessions for beverages. We had the school provide 8 tables with chairs for parents to sit and eat at. We have another 2 tables in the shed for the buffet.

Buffet Mgr: The buffet should be set up and ready to go at 5:30. Set up in the shed off to one side, the players will come thru the middle to get to the field pre game. Once the parents are thru invite the coaches/refs to help themselves. Then pack it up and send it back to the locker room.

Pictures: ask the team photographers to snap pics during the celebration and procession. They will post on our usual site so families can get them quickly. This is informal and opportunistic, don’t slow down the procession.

Remind Field painters to paint the senior numbers on the field for Sr Night.
