What is your organization’s mission statement?
Our mission is to improve the quality of life for children and adults with disabilities through programs of horsemanship and outdoor education, which develop self-worth, independence and active participation in the community.
Description of organization’s primary activities and/or events(60 words or less):
CAMELOT is a curriculum based riding program for children and adults with disabilities. Using the horse as a metaphor of life, students learn to become stronger than the obstacles in their path. This is achieved through one-on-one programming for each student. CAMELOT offers all services at no cost to its riders.
When does your board of directors meet? If dates and times are pre-set, please list (example: third Thursday of each month during lunch).
Our board of directors meet every other month on Thursdays at 5:30 p.m.
What is your expectation for a board member outside of attending meetings? (Examples: volunteer eight hours a month, fundraise, attend annual convention, etc.)
To assist with fund development by identifying and approaching potential donors; to assist with special events, including fundraising; to serve as a role model for Camelot volunteers and students by maintainting postitive energy, professionalim and integrity in all Camelot-related business.
How much time outside of board of directors meetings is expected of a board member?

Board members should have an interest in CAMELOT, credibility, contacts and ability to get things done. Members should be willing to find support personally and/or work on fund development of special event activities to raise funds. Proven leadership and ability to represent CAMELOT and serve as a role model for other volunteers are required.
What is the process to become a board member with your organization?
Applicants fill out an application and attend an interview with existing board members. The board then decides if the candidate is accepted.

Description of volunteer opportunities (other than the board of directors) within the organization:
Camelot also have volnteers that fill the following positions: ranch hand, instructional assistant and ground keepers.
What are the requirements of being a volunteer?
We ask that all volunteer candidates fill out an application that is available on our website at and attend a volunteer interview and tour of the ranch. Here are some important points to consider before applying to be a volunteer:
• Are you able to make a six-month commitment?
• Can you come once a week, on the same day each week?
• Are Jomax and Scottsdale Roads too far for you to drive once a week?
