ABSTRACT

AIM obbiettivo / The aim of this paper was to check whether contemporarily used methods of analysing competitive strategies can be applicable in a company that belongs to Economy of Communion (EoC). In a broader sense, the aim of the thesis was to check whether the theory of economics can show us the realm of companies that are engaged in the project of EoC.
METHOD metodo / In the thesis there are explained and used methods that are common in analysing strategies, especially competitive strategies. These methods are: PEST, Porter 5 forces analysis, sector attractiveness assessment, key factors analysis and SWOT/TOWS. I've also analysed the point of view of game theory, especially Prisoners Dilemma and theory of auctions.
There was also analysed christian point of view on competition, from most general (Jesus's teaching), through Catholic Church Social Doctrine to Economy of Communion principles.
CONCLUSIONS
conclusioni / Methods that are mentioned above turned out to be not sufficient to analyse the given company (Complex Projekt sp. z o.o) that belongs to EoC. Porter 5 forces analysis was based on principles that are completely different from the EoC point of view. Porter sees competitors as enemies and in EoC competitors are seen as possible partners. Also the assessment of sector attractiveness is not applicable to EoC companies, where what they do is more important than how profitable it is. However, SWOT/TOWS analysis can be interesting for the firm and give useful information about what they should change in the company or its strategy.
Also game theory about auctions turned out to be not fully applicable to the given company, where people are put before profits. Prisoners Dillema well shows that the strategy of EoC is generally very good; better than seeking self-interest (if everyone applies this strategy). If everyone cooperates it is Pareto- optimal. Nash equilibrium (seeking self-interest) is worse for everyone.
The example of Complex Projekt shows us that christian principles can be successfully applicated in a company. But to understand it and analyse, there would be necessary new economic models.
