The I.H. A. is a Data Controller under the Data Protection Acts and it undertakes to comply with that legislation and the eight data protection principles set out below. This data protection policy sets out our commitment to protecting personal data and how we implement that commitment with regards to the collection and use of personal data.
The I.H.A keeps a members database for the purposes of contacting members,to keep arecord of subscriptions and donations paid by members and for statistical work. The data collected by the I.H.A. consists of your name, address, email address, mobile phone number, landline and confirmation of subscriptions paid . Your data will not be released to a third party without your consent unless the I.H.A is required to do so by law.
Kate Geoghegan is the nominated officer responsible for data protection compliance and provides a point of contact for all data protection issues. We will ensure that queries about data protection, internal and external to the organisation, are dealt with effectively and promptly. 1. Obtain and process information fairly
2. Keep personal data only in order to meet our operational needs or fulfil legal requirements.
3. Use and disclose data only in ways compatible with these purposes
4. Keep data safe and secure
5. Keep data accurate, complete and up-to-date
6. Ensure that data is adequate, relevant and not excessive
7. Retain data for no longer than is necessary for the purpose.
