Darlington Internet Safety Partnership

Cyber Champions Charter

In Darlington we aim to build digital literacy and resilience skills in children, young people, professionals, parents and carers.

We have a multi-agency partnership which uses local and national intelligence and data as an evidence base. We aim to increase knowledge and skills to safely use the internet and social media, with a strong understanding of social media apps, cyberbullying, CSE, identity fraud, radicalisation, gaming, digital footprints and much more.

Signing up to the Cyber Champions Charter will enable your lead member of staff to access training, support, resources, materials and a network of people to aid your work in this area, receiving constant up to date information, support and advice to disseminate from our multi-agency partnership.

To ensure that you remain up to date and promote good practice, we expect that you:

·  Ensure you have the clear policies, procedures and codes of conduct in place, all essential people are aware of these and they remain up to date, are accessible and have clear information within them for recording and reporting. All parties necessary are aware of and understand the content

·  Your acceptable use (of modern technology) policy for staff is understood and adhered to by all

·  A mobile phone use policy is in place and promoted

·  An acceptable computer use policy is in place and promoted

·  You attend briefings and a minimum of one training session per year related to this topic and disseminate information within your setting, maintaining and delivering CPD with SLT support

·  Your school promotes and embeds a peer support project to promote and support safe use of the internet

·  Your school can demonstrate the range of support and information on this subject to parents and carers, including the menu of support made available from the Internet Safety Partnership and other forms of support and advice available through your website and newsletter

·  There is a shared awareness of the links between internet safety with radicalisation, extremism and CSE and an understanding of policies, procedures and sources of support

·  There is evidence of good SLT and Governing Body support for Cyber Champions

·  Together there is an embedded whole school approach to internet safety
