TO THE PARENT:

As a Dancing Boot, your daughter will participate in the following activities throughout football and basketball season:

  1. Approximately two to four hours of strenuous hours of strenuous activity per day.
  2. Performances at ALL Varsity football games, basketball games, as well as participation in various outside performances with the community and competition. This involves physical and emotional stress.
  3. Extra time spent at home and school in meetings and other activities related to Dancing Boots.
  4. Your daughter will be dancing, stunting, and jumping during most performances.
  5. Because of the strenuousness of the activities, Dancing Boots must be in good health and practice good health habits.

In the event of an emergency as a result of athletic participation that requires medical attention, I grant permission to the school and/or its employees, the R.J. Reynolds Dancing Boot coaching staff, to take whatever action it deems necessary. If I cannot be reached the R.J. Reynolds Coaching staff is authorized to give consent for unexpected medical care and hospitalization to my son or daughter, ______.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO MAKE THE DANCING BOOTS TEAM?

ARE THERE ANY HEIGHT & WEIGHT REQUIREMENTS? You should look well proportioned in dancewear. We DO NOT have specific height and weight requirements. Dance technique, personality and execution of expected material is the main focus.

WHAT DO I NEED TO WEAR?

Please wear the following color top.

Bottoms:

  • Black spandex shorts, jazz pants, or leggings

Shoes:

  • Jazz shoes or sneakers

WHAT DANCE SKILLS DO I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO DO?

  • Splits right, left, & middle
  • Eye high kicks
  • Double pirouettes on right and left (more are encouraged)
  • Axel turn
  • á la seconde turns (3 into a double pirouette)/ Fouettes
  • Leap to second or switch second
  • reverse Jetes
  • Other--- Leg extension with and/or without hold.

WHEN DO I REPORT FOR AUDITIONS? Registration will begin promptly at 3:45 in the lobby of the Girls Gym on Wednesday, May 21stand 22nd. The last day of auditions will be held on May 23rd. An audition number will be given to each candidate on the first day of auditions. Numbers must be worn at all times. Auditions will begin at 4:00 p.m. DO NOT BE LATE!

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO AUDITIONS? No food or drinks are allowed in gym or dance room where auditions will be held, however, water will be allowed at breaks. You may bring a snack and water for the break.

HOW LONG WILL THE AUDITION LAST? Auditions should be over by 6:00. Please be aware that we may run over in time.

CAN MY FAMILY WATCH AUDITIONS? No. The auditions are closed to the public.
