REYNOLDS E. MOULTON FAMILY STUDENT ATHLETE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

Guidelines

History and Purpose: The Reynolds E. Moulton Family Student Athlete Achievement Award was established in 2000 by Reynolds E. Moulton, Jr. The fund provides scholarship assistance annually to a graduating senior of Cape Elizabeth High School who plans to attend a four-year college or university and has demonstrated outstanding athletic and academic abilities.

Eligibility Requirements: To be eligible for the annual Award, a student must be: 1) a graduating senior from Cape Elizabeth High School; 2) acccepted at a four year post-secondary school; and 3) have combined outstanding interscholastic athletic achievement at Cape Elizabeth High School with above above average academic performance. Financial need will only be considered in evaluation of equally qualified applicants.

Awards: Each year, the program will award scholarships of an amount determined by the Board of Directors of the Maine Community Foundation in consultation with the advisory committee and will be based on the income available from the fund that year

The award money may be used for tuition, room and board, books, lab fees and equipment. However, award monies used for expenses other than tuition, books and supplies must be reported as taxable income by the recipient. It will be the responsibility of the recipient to report and pay any tax liability.

Administration: A committee consisting of the principal and athletic director of Cape Elizabeth High School and the donor’s sisters, or their designees as selected by the then remaining children of the donor, shall be appointed to review the applications received and make their recommendation to the Board of Maine Community Foundation as to the recipient of the award.

All applications must be postmarked no later than April 15th. Incomplete applications or those postmarked after this date will not be processed. All information received from applicants will be treated as confidential. Award winners will be notified by June 15th.

Each award will be mailed to the school in December. Checks will be made payable jointly to

the student and the school and applied to the second semester expenses.
