Curriculum for Excellence Tracker Guide

The tracker sheets have been designed to track the coverage through planning of the Curriculum for Excellence experiences and outcomes from early to 2nd level over a year. Eight different tracker sheet documentsshow all the E&O’s for each level.

NB: These documents will only open successfully in Word 02, 03 and 07.

Intended use

Every E&O that is covered by subject and interdisciplinary planning should be tracked, staff writing in the date/context/progress of coverage in the relevant boxes. The two nursery documents differ slightly, progress is not formally assessedand the boxes are not organised by yearly quarters.

Awhole class or groupscan be tracked on these sheets, with the intention of achieving an overview by the end of a year of the overall coverage of the E&O’s for that class/group.

This example box has the date/context of planning and progress for groups noted. To assess progress Developing, Consolidating and Secure should be used.

This example shows three year stages in a composite class and the progress made.

It would be best to print out the sheets and write in the information, that way sheets showing coverage and progress can be easily shared between staff for review during a year. The documents can be kept as digital records if desired.

Staff may want to pass on the sheets to the next year stage to share information on the coverage to date and to highlight any areas of the curriculum not yet covered in a level. Staff could write on the left hand side of each page beside the code the number of times coverage happened in the previous year for that E&O. This way even coverage could be ensured over a level.

If desired staff can use these as a basis and can make changes according to their requirements.

Printing - These sheets are designed to use colour as a visual element so it would be best to print in colour, however the colour can be printed using the greyscale option in properties.

In properties ensure the page size is A4 landscape. In properties ensure the setting for printing single sided is chosen. This is the best choice if you want the 8 curriculum areas to stay separate. These documents have been designed on word 7 and are compatible with word 2002, 03 & 07 only.
