Job Title: Director of Advocacy

Reports To: Executive Director

Salary: $38,000-$42,000 (with generous benefits package)

Qualifications:

Graduate degree in social work, counseling, or related field and minimum of two years of experience in counseling; experience working with sexual assault/abuse survivors preferred. Must possess SC clinical licensure. Administrative supervision or program leadership experience required.

General Summary of Duties:

Serves as key member of leadership team working closely with the Director of Crisis Services and Director of Therapy to ensure STSM offers comprehensive crisis and therapeutic intervention services and legal and personal advocacy. Leads efforts related to advocacy, criminal justice outreach, and training. Provides full range of therapeutic services to include crisis intervention, individual counseling, and advocacy and referrals for survivors of sexual assault/abuse and their family members using agency-selected, evidence-based best practice therapy models.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and good communication skills required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Ability to perform public speaking regarding the agency and the foster care program required. Knowledge of foster care rules and the services, and experience working with youth in out of home care preferred. Must be willing and able to travel, including routine overnight trips. Must be available to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends.

Duties

1. Reports directly to the appropriate Director or his/her designee.

2. Develops recruitment strategies and initiatives for the agency’s foster care program(s).

3. Prepares recruitment materials for promotion of foster care.

4. Conducts public relations activities on behalf of the foster care program through the media, publications, public outreach and speaking engagements and other initiatives.

5. Coordinates and/or produces flyers, advertising, informational brochures and other material for use in public relations and recruitment activities.

6. Develops working relationships with local media.

7. Assists potential foster parents in completing necessary paperwork for submission to begin the licensing process.

8. Assists in pre-service training of new foster parents as deemed appropriate.

9. Submits routine and ad hoc reports on recruitment activities.

10. Evaluates and tracks the success of recruitment events/campaigns, including but not limited to the status of licensure of foster parents and potential foster parents.

11. Works with regional operations to replicate successful recruitment events/campaigns.

12. Performs other duties as requested.

The person in this position needs to follow a team concept and support both agency goals and co-workers. Employees must be able to effectively work with and be respectful and sensitive to persons from various cultures, socioeconomic, ethnic, religious and racial backgrounds.
