“Current Opioid Statistics.” Mass.gov,

This source is taken from the Massachusetts State Government Website. The website contains statistics related to opioid overdoses every quarter year. The most recent entry dates from August, 2017, and the latest date is taken from the year 2000. This source will be very useful for my argument. My argument is that the opioid crisis is a huge problem in our country, but more specifically in the Boston Area. I will be able to use these statistics in this source as up to date facts to successfully argue towards a solution to end the crisis.

Rocheleau, Matt. “A Town-by-Town Look at the Opioid Epidemic’s Deadly Toll in

Massachusetts - The Boston Globe.” BostonGlobe.com, The Boston Globe, 22 Oct. 2015,

This article is from the Boston Globe. The article is a closer look at the opioid crisis in each town in Massachusetts. The source is useful for my argument because it highlights how the crisis has affected populated suburbs all over Massachusetts. The article also relates to me personally due to growing up in and around the towns that are affected. I will be able to successfully express my argument clearly with the statistic and facts within this article.

Kolodny, Andrew, et al. “The Prescription Opioid and Heroin Crisis: A Public Health Approach

to an Epidemic of Addiction.” THE PUBLIC HEALTH INFRASTRUCTURE AND OUR NATION'S HEALTH | Annual Review of Public Health,

This source came from the library database. It is a cited article about the opioid crisis in America, and suggested prevention. The article starts with the history of opioids, and further explains the growing use of the drugs through the years. The article continues with how to prevent the drug crisis from spreading. This article will help me formulate a solution to my argument toward the opioid crisis. I plan to use direct quotes from the experts in the field to successfully prove my argument.

Skolek, Marianne. “Massachusetts Declares War on Opioids/Heroin and Zohydro to Combat

Health Crisis - Will 49 States Follow?” Salem-News.com, Salem News,

This is another article that I found in the library database. This article explains the Massachusetts government aggressive approach toward the opioid crisis. The article comes a Boston suburb local paper, Salem, Ma. The article explains that Massachusetts has, “waged all out war against heroin and opioid use”. This article will be helpful for my paper because it helps support my claim that the opioid crisis is a issue that needs to be solved. I plan to use the facts and statistics that the Massachusetts government used to support the claim towards a solution.
