Information & Conditions of Play 2016

Events: Open Boys Singles, Open Girls Singles, Open Boys Pairs, Open Girls Pairs

Entry: Players must nominate to their Association Lawn Bowls Convener. Association Conveners will then select players to represent the Region and forward these entries to the CHS Convener. Association Conveners will contact all players about their selection or otherwise. The CHS Convener will email all players who have been accepted into the event. Each Region is entitled to a minimum 2 Singles entries and 1 Pairs entry in Boys events with the Singles draw being capped at 32 players and Pairs at 16 sides. The Girls event may be restricted to 16 Singles and 8 Pairs sides at the Convener’s discretion. Associations will be allocated extra positions in the draw based on their 2015 position in the State Carnival. Incomplete entries (email contacts & signatures) will NOT be accepted.

Venue: All events will be played at Warilla BC.

Start Times: Players are asked to check in from 8am each morning. Cards will be called by 8.45am.

Cost: There is a $5 administration fee for each event, payable on the morning of their first game. Warilla BC will be providing players with lunch each day at no added cost.

Draws: All draws are randomly constructed electronically in the presence of another CHS representative, however Boys players/sides from the same Association will not be drawn against each other in the first round (this does not apply to late entries used to complete the draw if necessary). Girls events are open draws.

Dead ends: The jack will be respotted on the ‘T’, or as near as possible on the centre line.

Timing: Games will be timed as per the conditions below. The toss should be completed and the mat placed prior to time starting. If the jack has been centred when time elapses, the end shall be completed.

Format:

·  Singles: Each game will be of 1 hour duration. If games are tied, a one-bowl shootout will determine the winner (toss for mat, killing the jack is automatic loss) – except the Final which will be a full extra end. Players may only visit the head after their 3rd bowl.

·  Pairs: 3-bowl Pairs. Each game will be 1 hour 10 mins duration. If games are tied, a one-bowl shootout will determine the winner (toss for mat, either player may be chosen to play the bowl, killing the jack is automatic loss) – except the Final which will be a full extra end. Leads may not visit the head. Skips may visit the head after their 2nd bowl only.

·  Both formats are knockout, however every player/team will play all games to determine all positions from 1st to 32nd (where applicable)

The Controlling Body may alter the conditions in order to ensure a successful conclusion to the event.

Presentation: The Presentation will take place immediately after the conclusion of the final event on Thursday. NSWCHS medals will be awarded to all 1st, 2nd and 3rd placegetters. A Male and a Female Player of the Championships will be recognised and awarded.

Order of Play & Timing

The day and timing of each event will be dependent on the number of girls entries. E.g. if only 16 Girls, all Singles games will be Day 1. If 24 Girls, the Boys will play singles Day 1 and Girls Singles Day 2. If only 16 Girls, games may be extended.
