Primary Mental Health Workers for Children and Young People: Update

The PMHW Service should be contacted where the referrer requires advice or consultation on the needs of a child or young person who is displaying mild to moderate mental health symptoms with low levels of risk. If the child or young person’s mental health symptoms are more acute and carry greater risks then a referral to the NSFT Access and Assessment Team should be made.

• PMHWs can becontacted on 01284 733188. If the PMHW is not available please ask to speak to another PMHW or leave a message for the named worker to call you back. We will be changing our telephone numbers shortly as we move offices.

• Primary Mental Health Workers cover different geographical areas and offer termly consultations to high schools. Please contact us on 01284 733188 if this is not yet taking place (we are progressing recruitment for some vacancies currently).

• We will be looking at how we can support primary schools in the most effective way please contact us on the above number if you would like to discuss consultation support for your school.
