Refresh of Marketing Activity Plan – 2013
Douglas Ritchie took us through a refresher of the Marketing activity plan from 2013
Discussion around what has changed:
  • Outlander Opportunities
  • Reduction in Chinese connections at Elmwood Campus – SRUC
  • Increase in Military Families at Leuchars
Ian Grieg mentioned that supply of accommodation is tight due to many families now living at the base in Leuchars. John to liaise with Leuchars to find out about yearly showcase to highlight the county’s offerings.
The London Underground-themed map was also shown and this was well received by all. The group stated they would like this updated but adding Accessibility and Accommodation. Possible to appear on local brochure & website (which could hyperlink to businesses). The LTA could also look at Sponsorship to fund it.
It was also mentioned that dedicated social media channels for the area is an option although this would be time consuming for whoever took ownership.
ADS Digital Kiosk – No location could be determined for Cupar so was placed elsewhere. If the Fife Tourism Partnership is in a position to purchase more units, Cupar area can be the first to have the opportunity to house the unit. This would require a location with cabled internet and power. The running cost of the unit works out about £35/40 per annum. In the meantime, it would be greatif the group can decide a suitable location.
It was mentioned that they would like to know more about VisitScotland’s Market Segmentation. This can be found here:
Website: There was talk about having a domain name such as WelcometoNorthFife.com which could link to the Cupar & North section ( of the WelcometoFife.com site. This is something the Fife Tourism Partnership will look in to and possibly pay for. The group would need to decide on a domain name.
Brochure – It was agreed that the brochure was a bit too large and the group decided to volunteer someone to be responsible for parts of the brochure:
Sports & Outdoors – Ian Greig
Craft - Alison Strachan
Heritage – Sarah Scarlett
Events – Kelly Hodgson
Families – Jayne Kirk
John will obtain the latest design work from the designer and pass out to LTA.
The group also wanted to explore better signage to the area. / John

Cupar & North Fife LTA Area decided initially on the following buildings which will be contacted by WelcometoFife:
-Falkland Palace
-St Athernes Church, Leuchars
-Melville House
-Hill of Tarvit
-Sugar Beet Factory
Other suggestions were: Fernie Castle, Newburgh High Street, St Johns Church, Hopetoun Monument on Mount Hill & The Tay Bridge.
Interesting fact about the Whyte family being the Oldest family farming business in Scotland (over 300 years old).
