DEVOTIONAL FOR KIDS

ACCEPTING OTHERS BEYOND OUR DIFFERENCES

Purpose: To help children understand that we are all equal in the eyes of God and that we must accept ourselves as we are, and others as they are,regardless of skin color, culture, the language we speak, social class or any other conditions. This devotional will help children understandthat they must respect and be kind to everyone, no matter the differences.

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.” (Ephesians 3:20)

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” (John 13:34)

Ask the children:

Do youlike eggs? How do youlike to eat them? Fried, boiled, omelet or scrambled?

Eggs are alsousedto make deliciousdesserts.Can yousee the differencebetween each ofthese eggs?

Do you thinkthere is any differencein these eggs when we look inside of them?

Let'sbreakthe eggs andwe will discoverif they have anydifferences.

Lesson:The eggsare differenton the outside, but inside theyare the same. People are the same in the eyes of God. We lookdifferenton the outside, butin the eyes ofGodwe are all equal.

He lovesus so much Hewas willing to dieon the crossfor all of us without distinction. Heleft usa new commandment, thatwelove oneanother ashe loves us.

“I give you a new commandment: that you should love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you too should love one another.” (John 3:34)

We must ask God to help us with His power to see other people as He see us, whether we are different in our skin color, culture, the language we speak, social class or other condition. All people deserve our respect and consideration; we must be kind to everyone, no matter the differences.

Prayer: Lord, help me to see others as you see them. Give me a compassionate heart. I want to love my neighbor as you love me. Thanks for your love. Please, help me to share with others about your love, so that they also will know how much you love them. Amen.
