Crime Watch Report for March 26th through April 1st, 2010

CASE # 10 –1035 BURGLARY On Friday, March 26, 2010, Corporal Bryan responded to a residence along River Road, near Preston, in regards to a burglary complaint. Forced entry was noted. This is a continuing investigation.

CASE # 10-1040 BURGLARY On Saturday, March 27, 2010, Corporal Bryan responded to the Big Bear Lake area near Bruceton Mills where there was a report of a breaking and entering. This is a continuing investigation.

CASE # 10-1063 LARCENY On Monday, March 29, 2010, Corporal Dotson received a call from a resident of the Bruceton Mills area who stated that a license plate was stolen off of his motorcycle bearing the number G67700.

CASE # 10-1074 LARCENY On Tuesday, March 30, 2010, Deputy Sinclair received a call from a resident of Albright who stated that she had prescription medicine stolen from her place of residence. This is a continuing investigation.

CASE # 10-1107 LARCENY On Thursday, April 1, 2010, Deputy S. Mitter received a call from a resident of Terra Alta who stated that money was missing from her home. This information was faxed to the Terra Alta Police Department for further investigation.

*SPECIAL NOTE*

The West Virginia Sheriff’s Association has announced applications for the 2010 Sheriff’s Camp are available for all eighth grade students at Camp Barbour, Philippi, WV. The date of the camp is July 11-July 16, 2010.

Students who will graduate from the 8th grade this year and enter the 9th grade in the fall of 2011 are eligible to apply for a cadet position at the WV Sheriffs’ Youth Leadership Academy.

According to WVSA officials, the West Virginia Sheriffs’ Youth Leadership Academy is an annual, six-day residential summer program for teenagers from all over the state. The purpose of the academy is to deter risk-taking behavior patterns by introducing students to recreation alternatives and educating them on the negative consequences of drugs, alcohol and violence.

Sheriff Dallas Wolfe is encouraging all students currently eligible to participate to fill out an application to attend the Youth Leadership Academy. The camp is challenging and will be a fun-filled week of educational and recreation activities.

The camp provides participants with the leadership skills necessary to go back to their home communities and help others deal with the challenges they may face while encouraging participation in citizenship activities and teaches responsibility.

“The West Virginia Sheriffs’ Camp is a great opportunity for young people to learn about law enforcement careers and develop their leadership skills.” Students from all over the state attend this camp. The deadline to apply is May 21st.
