Why: For the 2017 – 2018 school year CMS is expected to perform at school and community events to showcase our program. We need dancers who will commit to this fun experience. Thank you for understanding J
How: Students who want to commit to the performance group will be asked to successfully cooperate in one or more fundraisers. I enjoy the simple, short, and sweet fundraisers, so I will do my best to choose those that produce the most profit in the shortest period of time.
Financial Obligation: $300 for the year will cover all costs for uniform and warm ups. Please plan to pay $150 on April 1, 2017 and $150 on May 1, 2017 You can pay all at once if you’d like (If the financial obligation is the only reason your student will not be able to audition, please sign the fundraising commitment, and contact me as soon as possible. No dancer should not audition due to a lack of financial ability. The only requirement for dancers who will need financial assistance, is that the PARENTS and GUARDIANS make a COMMITMENT to a payment schedule, seek sponsorship with my help, and maintain communication. I am willing to put in extra time to help seek funds, but cannot do this alone for your child / dancer. Thank you, in advance. J)
Please come to our first Clinic day prepared with the following signed and completed forms:
· Application
· Constitution
· Copy of athletic physical (whichever is the most recent)
· Financial / Fundraising Commitment
The forms are available on our website under the “CLINICS” tab at www.CMSCougarsDance.yolasite.com
You may also pick up a hard copy from the front desk at your elementary school or CMS.
Please understand that my main priority is to have fun teaching and to watch students learn proper dance technique and etiquette. I have to lay firm ground rules in order for the experience to be successful. We will have a year-long schedule as soon as I am provided dates for next school year, and being a mother of one and having power of attorney over three others, I understand the need for prior communication and clear understandings between parents and teachers. Please never hesitate to reach out to ask questions. Sometimes, your questions will help me communicate more efficiently in the future, and I want the new performance group and dance year to be a lot of fun…not a lot of stress. Let’s work together to make it a memorable year for our dancers! Good luck and I hope to see you at clinics and auditions!

Helpful Preparation:
*Visit a local dance studio and try a free class to see if joining a studio is right for you. There are recreational studios and competitive studios in the area that offer phenomenal dance education that will compliment this experience. Just be sure to remember that in the Fall, our practices will trump studio classes as far as scheduling is concerned.
*Go to see a live dance company performance. Surfscape Contemporary Dance Theatre, European School of Performing Arts, South Beach Dance Academy, Amanda’s Dance Center’s Company, Pappillion at Spruce Creek High School, New Smyrna Beach High School Show Dolls, any middle school performance and all professional touring companies advertise their performances and offer a glimpse into the world of dance. Experiencing live performances gives you the opportunity to network with other hopeful dancers, dancers, choreographers, directors, owners, etc. Just go J
*Watch any “Choreography” search on youtube.com for a genre of dance that interests you. Search “Contemporary Choreography” or “Hip Hop Choreography” to get inspired by dancers and choreographers from all over the world. Have FUN J
