Creating a “User Admin” profile

We have created a generic user with a user admin profile that allows for the management of user accounts specifically unlocking a user’s account, resetting passwords, and changing user profiles. User profiles, however, cannot be changed to an administrator profile and users under the administrator profile are not visible therefore they cannot be affected.

In this documentation the user admin profile is referred to as “PRO User Admin” and the generic user as “proadmin”

Here are the steps to create this profile and generic user.

  1. Create a copy of the “Staff Accounts by Group”reportand save it as a new report called “Administrator of Staff Accounts by Group”. Modify the new report to filter out the following:

Where the following groupsare removed: test accounts, engineering, analysts, system administrators, and special group.

  1. Builda Navigation set called PRO User Admin that only allows access to the Home button on the Application menu and the new “Administrator of Staff Accounts by Group” report. (save)

  1. Create the new PRO User Admin profile and add the Pro User Admin Navigation set. (save)

  1. Modify the profile’s permissions to access Staff Accounts.

Selecting the “Groups/Accounts/Distribution Lists” check box allows staff members with this profile access to the following options:

• Staff Accounts

• Distribution Lists

If cleared, these options are not available.
Note: Staff members who have Groups/Accounts/Distribution Lists permissions can assign only those profiles with the same or lesser permissions as their profile. The administrator profiles will not be able to be accessed.

  1. Modify the profile’s analytics to provide access to the “Administrator of Staff Accounts by Group” report as well as be able to export the report.

  1. Create a generic user such as proadminand assign them to the PRO Admin Profile.

This user can now unlock other users’ accounts and change/reset their passwords.

If the user tries to create a new account they can only create an account under the PRO Admin profile.

The user cannot change other users’ profiles.

When the generic user logs in this is what they will see. From this report they can find the user by their name and open up their account details.
