SAFETY DEVICE REQUIREMENTS FOR CRANES

The following definitions are in accordance with the current regulatory agency standards.
Fire Extinguisher / An accessible fire extinguisher must not have a rating less than 10BC in all operator stations or in the equipment cabs.
Horn / Mobile craneswill be equipped with a horn, distinguishable from the surrounding noise level, which will be operated as needed where a mobile crane is moving in either direction.
Reverse Alarm / Mobile craneswill be equipped with a reverse signal alarm audible above surrounding noise levels.
The alarm must operate when the equipment direction control is placed in the reverse position.
Seat Belt / Seat belts must meet the requirements of the Society of Automobile Engineers, J386, Operator Restraint System for Off-Road Work Machines.
Overhead Protection / Mobile craneswill be equipped with overhead guards that meet the design and structural requirements as defined in 29CFR 1910.178(e).
Boom Angle Indicator / Cranes with booms must be equipped with a boom angle indicator (refer to Practice 000.653.3201).
