Cranbrook Minor Hockey Board Meeting April 11, 2016 minutes
Call to order: 7:00pm
Attendees: Pete Stefano, Jeff Fancy, Carla Thompson, Bobby- Jo Hekob, Sheanne Paulson, Brandt Watson, Chris Geddes, Tim Nelson, Allie Whittingham, Ivan Colten, Corey Spring, Wade Lamont, Darren Krotz, Miles Chisholm, Chris Huston and Corey Cameron (guest)

Approve February 222016 (motion to approve – Brandt Watson, second –Tim Nelson) carried
Corey Cameron Proposal
-local athletic therapist
-concussion baseline testing, last year tested about 70 kids
-7 kids last year with concussions
-would like to focus on 10 years and up for this season
-would like to do the sign up for testing during registration
-contract with CMHA does not include testing for injuries that occur outside of hockey
-there are some grants available for safety in sports
-education regarding concussions is very important
-an app is available for balance and reaction testing
-table discussion to next meeting, proposal to be emailed to board by CMHA office
Old Business:
House Committee (Bernie)
-volunteers are required, Bernie will chair committee again
-Jeff Scott (parent) has volunteered to be on it, Chris Huston and Ivan Colten to join as well
New Business;
Robert Nickell BC cup:
-asked to officiate at U16 in Salmon Arm, can CMHA offer some support
-CMHA will reimburse for fuel and a per diem of $50.00/day (motion to approve – Chris Huston, second – Jeff Fancy Carried
Kimberley Agreement:
-same as last year?
-acceptance date to be pushed back to around our registration dates
-table final discussion to May meeting
-in every division if Kimberley association keeps any player in any division for a carded team they will keep all players from that division (last year’s agreement)
-Bobby Jo to send out letter from last year
SCAHL status:
-need something in writing early spring
-need to know where our midget numbers are
-Allie Whittingham to be rep and will call G Davenport to confirm what they require for the next meeting
Changes to Societies Act:
-November 28/2016 act into effect, 2 years to transition and comply
-table to next meeting, Jeff to find someone to peruse act
Atom Program:
-table to next meeting
Registration:
-new form developed
-sign up for tryouts, no option given, must start at T2 level
-fees to remain the same
-still keeping half off at bantam and midget levels for kids who had not played in any association previous season, as well as girls at all levels
-rep registration to remain the same as last year
-can we send out a mass email to last years membership with registration information, emails from division heads from last year required to send out email
-dates set May 31, June 1st and 2nd
BC Hockey AGM (Sun Peaks):
-June 11-13
-going Bobby Jo and possibly Allie
Midget Coach Applications:
-received one application from Mike Reid
-Reid wants midget information meeting soon
-will meet with SCAHL with a 3 year commitment
-board gives Mike a go ahead to start coaching process, though we still have hurdles to overcome (motion – Ivan Colten, second – Tim Nelson)
-proposal not passed, tabled to next meeting
-Jeff interim coaching coordinator
Under Age Player movement:
-see attached
-if policy change we need a strict written outline
-table to next meeting
Girls Program:
-Albert Van Hoek is very dedicated to female side of hockey
