America’s Second Harvest

Organizational overview:

America’s Second Harvest is our nation's largest charitable domestic hunger-relief organization

Through a Network of over 200 regional food banks and food rescue organizations in the United States and Puerto Rico, America’s Second Harvest is able to provide supplies to emergency feeding-centers, shelters and mass care sites serving disaster victims. In many disaster situations, America’s Second Harvest food banks provide supplies to emergency feeding centers operated by the Salvation Army, the American National Red Cross and other voluntary agencies.

The overall mission of America's Second Harvest is ‘ending hunger’; a means to that end is a commitment to respond when disaster strikes.

Occupational summary:

Craig A Nemitz is the primary point-of-contact for the national office of America’s Second Harvest regarding humanitarian assistance during disaster preparedness & relief activities. He recommends and implements strategies to enhance America’s Second Harvest disaster activities. Craig identifies, develops, and provides technical assistance, training, and consultation to America’s Second Harvest and Affiliate staff, volunteers, agencies and board members. He also makes time and talents available to the donor community when requested.

Craig has shared his knowledge of food banking and emergency management with international humanitarian organizations, government officials and non-profit groups in Australia, Japan, Africa, Mexico, South America, United Kingdom and the US Virgin Islands.

International Association of Emergency Managers – Certified Emergency Manager (CEM).

Member of the Board of Directors for the National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters, (NVOAD). Chairman of NVOAD’s Membership Committee. Immediate past Chairman of the National Donations Management Committee. Board of Directors Liaison to the National Donations Management Committee.

Credentials:

Craig is a recipient of the prestigious International Diploma in Humanitarian Assistance from the University of Geneva and the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin.
