CQI Steering Committee Meeting

MINUTES
Present: Eakle Barfield, Mike Campbell, Mary Susan Fishbaugh, Vern Gagnon, Karen Heikel, Sharon Hobbs, Tasneem Khaleel, Stacy Klippenstein, Brent Roberts, Patty Rukstad, Dave Sullivan, George White
1. Update of CQI Annual Reports.
CAHP – Rehabilitation and Human Services has not yet submitted hard copy.
CAS – Modern Languages has not yet submitted report and electronic copies are needed from Biological and Physical Sciences and Mathematics.
COB – Will submit their report during the week of May 21, 2007.
COE – The COE departments have submitted their reports directly to Mary Susan and she is working on the COE college report.
COT – Valerie Martinez is currently working on completing the COT college report.
CPSLL – Karen Heikel will submit the CPSLL report by the end of May.
The college reports should be completed by the first of June with one hard copy to Dr. White and one to the CQI office. Each Dean will complete an executive summary of their reports with a hard copy to the CQI Office and an electronic copy sent to Patty to be posted on the portal for CQI Steering Committee members to review. Dr. White will be responsible for submitting a report of the academic areas to Dr. Sexton by the first of July.
There was discussion on whether the annuals reports are helpful in assessing programs and how we can increase the quality of programs. There was also discussion about the organizational communications on campus and how we can communicate to everyone how important CQI is to the university. A few ideas that were brought up for better communications:

2. Update of Standard Reports.
All Standards have been turned in with the exception of Standard 5 – Library. Jane Howell is currently working on it as we meet. Mary Susan has five of the standards formatted. The editing group of Rachel Schaffer, Tasneem Khaleel and Sharon Hobbs will review for further edits.
Matt Redinger asked about getting copies of the annual reports to see about completing the evidence list of faculty achievements. Patty will post the electronic reports (for the ones she has so far) on the assessment portal. Dr. White announced that the eCollege assessment/portfolio purchase is in the works.
3. Staff Senate Involvement with CQI – Brent Roberts.
Brent Roberts reported that at the last Staff Senate meeting the senators would like to get a better understanding of what CQI is and how they can assist. CQI members are to bring their items to the next CQI meeting for further discussion.
