Cold Read
You will be given a short reading selection and you will answer questions from the selection. There is no review material for this selection. The work we have done all semester should prepare you for this section.
Essay
You will complete the following essay. You may do pre-writing in advance and use the outline or web for the essay. If you plan on using pre-writing during the exam, you must have it approved the day of the test by the teacher. Please prepare. Since you know the topic in advance, the expectation level increases. You must include at least two pieces of direct textual evidence with proper citations (including a works cited entry at the bottom of your essay using MLA style).
Pick one character from To Kill A Mockingbird, Twelve Angry Men, or a short story
that we have read and discuss what makes that character a unique and memorable
literary character. Be sure to use details from the story, play, or novel to support your selection. Please make sure that the essay includes an introduction, body, and
conclusion.
There will be a total of 100 multiple choice questions. You need a #2 pencil as we will use a scantron. The essay will be worth 20 points making the total exam 120 points. Remember this exam counts towards 20% of your semester grade. Good luck.
