Day 1

6:00-6:20Dynamic Warm up (Frankensteins, lunges w/ twist, high knees, side shuffle, back pedal with turn and sprint, karaoke, warm up lap)

  • 1 Instructor and 7 demonstrators.
  • 8 lines

6:20-6:30Drink and HS player introduction

6:30-6:45Stance and Fire Out.

  • All ages, all positions
  • 1 instructor and 3-4 demonstrators to show good technique.
  • Put players in lines/rows and go through steps.
  1. Foot position
  2. Hand position
  3. Back/Butt position
  4. First step
  5. Hands explode up

6:45-7:00 Form tackling

  • For all ages and all positions
  • 1 instructor and 4 teams of instructors
  • Demonstrate the steps then put them in 2 opposing lines and go through steps
  1. Break down opponent
  2. Attack – Knees bent with good head position
  3. Wrap arms up the back
  4. Step through and finish

7:00-7:20Receiving

  • All ages and all positions, however, break them into 3 age groups
  • 3 instructors (one for each age group), 3 demonstrators
  • Show each route then set up lines and run through giving each kid 2 chances
  • Show 5 basic routes
  1. Fly
  2. 10 yd out
  3. 10 yd in
  4. Curl
  5. Wheel

7:20-7:30Drink

7:30-7:45Handoffs

  • All Ages all positions
  • 1 instructor and 3 sets of demonstrators
  • Show proper ball placement from QB standpoint
  • Show proper hand/arm placement from RB standpoint (ball side arm on top)
  • Set up groups of opposing lines, and continually hand ball off to each other

While this drill is going on, all other HS players set up obstacle course.

Day 2

1 instructor and 4 demonstrators, 5 blocking pads

Using a blocking pad, demonstrate good technique.

Get them in 5-6 lines and go through steps

  1. Stance
  2. Fire out
  3. Hand position
  4. Head position
  5. Contact
  6. Drive

SkillsD-Back footwork

All ages

1 instructor, 4 demonstrators

Show how backpedal, drop step and turn, ball recognition

Line4-5 lines and run through each technique

6:45-7:00LinemenDefensive moves

  • 1 Instructor, 4 demonstrators
  • Using a blocking pad, demonstrate different techniques
  • In 4-5 lines, have them do each technique a couple times
  1. Bull rush
  2. Rip
  3. Swat and Swim

SkillsReceiving Technique

  • 1 Instructor, 4 Demonstrators
  • Show good had position for receiving. Stress the triangle when catching above waist, and pinkies together below waist or over shoulder
  • 3-4 lines each with a QB, practice each technique

7:00-7:25LinemenDefense Shed block then tackle

  • 1 instructor, 8 Demonstrators, 4 tackling dummies, 4 blocking pads
  • Demonstrate using a move to get off the block, then go to the dummy and form tackle.
  • Use 4 lines with one HS player holding a blocker and one holding a dummy for each ling.

SkillsReceiving/Defending

1 instructor, 4 demonstrators

Combine the route/receiving drills and the d-back drills.

4 lines, receiver vs d-back. QB gives receiver route and D-back tries to defend.

Players go to receiver, then to D-Back then to back of line.
