In the name of God Amen The twenty ninth

Day of September in the yeare of our Lord God One thousand seven hundred & thirty six

I Edward Cooke of Settle in the County of York Iron Monger being of perfect mind and memory

Thanks be given unto God therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body and

knowing that it is appointed for all men once to dye do make and ordaine this my last

Will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give & Recommend

my Soul into the hands of God that gave it and for my Body I Recommend it to the Earth

to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the discretion of my Executrix

as after named nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the .....

again by the mighty power of God And as touching such Worldly Estate wherewith it

hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give and devise and dispose of the same in

the following manner and form Imprimis I give and bequeath to Jane my dearly

beloved Wife all my Houses Barns Stables Gardens with all my Lands in the Township of

of (sic) Settle during her naturall life and after her decease I give the aforesaid Houses

and Lands to my Son Edward Cooke to him and his Heirs forever or at least for such.

term and terms of years as the Evidences ----Blank---- express whereby they were conveyed to

me Item I give to Roger Cooke my Eldest Son five pounds if he lives to demand the same

Item I give to Anthony Cooke my Son one pound and after my debts and Funeral expences

are Discharged All the rest and Remainder of my Effects then whatsoever or wheresoever

I give to my Wife And Lastly I nominate and appoint her my said Wife sole Executrix

of this my last Will and Testament And I do hereby utterly dissalow revoke &

disanull all and every other Testaments Wills and Legacies by me any ways before

this time named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other

to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my

hand and seal the day and year above written Edward Cooke – Signd seald published

pronounced and declared by the said –Blank--- as his last Will and Testament in the
