Control Panel Folder Options Settings

(To enable the SIS reports to be exported into the application and saved)

The “DOC”, “XLS”, and “RTF” file types need to be modified in order for the SIS export function to open the exported report

[1] Open the Control Panel by clicking “Start”, “Settings”, and “Control Panel” as shown:

[2] Select “Folder Options” from the available items:

NOTE: If you do not see the above screen when you clicked on “Control Panel”, please see Appendix A at the end of this document.

[3] Click to open the “Folder Options”:

[4] Click on “File Types” and scroll down to the extension of “DOC”, as shown above. With the “DOC” extension highlighted, click on the “Advanced” button:

Notice the “Browse in same window” option. If this is checked, as shown above, click on the check box to un-select it:

Click “OK” to save the changed setting.

[5] Next, select the “XLS” file extension in the “Folder Options”:

Repeat the above process by clicking on the “Advanced” button and making sure that the “Browse in same window” option is unchecked:

Click “OK” to save any changes.

[6] Next, select the “RTF” file extension in the “Folder Options”:

[7] Repeat the above process by clicking on the “Advanced” button and making sure that the “Browse in same window” option is unchecked (if it is grayed out, then ignore this step):

[8] Click “OK” to save any changes. Then click “Close” on the “Folder Options box:

Now, when the SIS “Export” function is clicked, the report will be available in Microsoft Word or Excel to be saved locally on the PC, if desired.


Appendix A: For Windows XP users who are not using windows “Classic View”:

If you see the following screen, when clicking on “Control Panel”:

You can either click on “Classic View” or click on “Appearance and Themes” to get to the “Folder Options”:
