Content for Military Section of PSRG:

At a minimum, the section on Military Options for Students should include:

·  A listing and description of the myriad of military post-secondary options available to students

·  Information sheets to help students plan appropriately for military post-secondary options

·  A timeline for students (what do they need to do when in order to achieve their specific military post-secondary goal?)

·  A timeline for school counselors (what will you need to do when?)

·  Selective Service System information

Content forCareer College/Trade School Sectionof PSRG:

At a minimum, the section on Career College/Trade School Resources for Students should include:

·  A listing and description of the myriad of post-secondary options available to students via career colleges and trade schools

·  Information sheets to help students search out andplan appropriately for career colleges and trade schools as post-secondary options

·  A timeline for students (what do they need to do when in order to achieve their specific post-secondary goal?)

·  A timeline for school counselors (what will you need to do when?)

Content forCommunity College Sectionof PSRG:

At a minimum, the section on Community College Resources for Students should include:

·  A listing and description of the myriad of post-secondary options available to students via community colleges

·  Information sheets to help students search out andplan appropriately for community colleges as post-secondary options

·  A timeline for students (what do they need to do when in order to achieve their specific post-secondary goal?)

·  A timeline for school counselors (what will you need to do when?)

At a minimum, the section onStandardized TestingResources for Students should include:

·  A listing and description of the American College Testing exams and the College Board exams and their relevance to students as they plan their post-secondary options

·  A timeline for students (what do they need to do when in order to achieve their specific post-secondary goal?)for the American College Testing exams (PLAN, EXPLORE and ACT) and the College Board tests (SAT, SAT Subject tests, AP exams, and CLEP exams)

·  A timeline (what will you need to do when?) for school counselors that addresses the American College Testing exams (PLAN, EXPLORE and ACT) and the College Board tests (SAT, SAT Subject tests, AP exams, and CLEP exams)

·  A listing of links and resources that will assist you in matters related to standardized testing resources

Content for4Year Colleges & UniversitiesSectionof PSRG:

As you begin compiling the section on4 year Colleges & Universities,youshould include:

·  A description of different types of institutions

o  National vs. Regional Colleges and Universities

o  Public vs. Private Colleges and Universities

o  Division I vs. Division II colleges (especially for student athletes)

o  Other distinguising characteristics of universities (religious affiliations, single sex, historically black, Spanish speaking, etc.)

o  Different levels of selectivity in admissions

·  Admissions requirements (minimums and averages) for various universities

o  GPA and class rank

o  Standardized test scores

o  Any additional admissions requirements

·  Application timelines and deadlines

o  A handout explaining the different types of university application timelines (early action, early decision, traditional, rolling admissions, etc.)

o  Relevant deadlines (for standardized tests, submission of applications, etc.)

o  For example, it would be useful to createa powerpoint presentation to help students understand the various components (including the student essay) involved in the college application process.

·  School Profile

o  For this component of the PSRG, you need to create a unique school profile for the school in which you are employed. In the event that you are not employed by a school district at this point in time, you may complete a school profile for a local district. My recommendation would be to obtain a copy of that school's current school profile so that you have access to the necessary information and to then create a unique version (format) of it for this assignment.

o  ALL of you should include (and clearly mark) the current version of the school profile being used AND the version you created.
