CONSULTANCY - TERMS OF REFERENCE

UNRWA is a United Nations agency established by the General Assembly in 1949 and is mandated to provide assistance and protection to a population of some 5 million registered Palestine refugees. Its mission is to help Palestine refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, West Bank and the Gaza Strip to achieve their full potential in human development, pending a just solution to their plight. UNRWA’s services encompass education, health care, relief and social services, camp infrastructure and improvement, microfinance and emergency assistance. UNRWA is the largest UN operation in the Middle East with more than 30,000 staff. UNRWA is funded almost entirely by voluntary contributions.

Videographers Consultants, Jerusalem

BACKGROUND

UNRWA is in need of videographers to film, edit and produce 1-minute videos showcasing UNRWA services and beneficiaries. UNRWA will provide videographers with video scripts and all required information prior to filming. Videographers should have previous experience in filming and editing in their country of residence.

Description of Duties and Responsibilities

  • Film enough footage in multiple locations to complete a 1 minute video;
  • Edit footage to align with script based on UNRWA request;
  • Edit multiple versions until approved by UNRWA;
  • Provide version of the video with subtitles in English;
  • Provide version of the video with subtitles in Arabic;
  • Provide background music on the video if required;
  • Provide a clean version of the video;
  • Provide UNRWA with an Ultra HD version for TV use;
  • Provide UNRWA with all the footage;
  • Agree that all work undertaken for UNRWA remains confidential;
  • Agree that copyright for use of the video and any images taken on behalf of UNRWA remains exclusively with UNRWA.

minimum Qualifications and Experience

● A university degree from an accredited educational institution in media, videography, journalism or any other relevant field;

● At least 2 years of experience in videography;

● Fluency in spoken and written Arabic;

● Filming will talk place in East Jerusalem.

COMPETENCIES

● Basic cinematography skills

● Advanced editing skills

dESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

● Previous experience with UN agency; or NGOs

● Previous experience working in the country of residence;

● Fluency in spoken and written English, is preferable;

● Previous experience working with refugees.

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

  • The duration of the consultancy is 3 months with the expected start date of 7 May 2018.
  • Remuneration for this consultancy will depend on the qualifications and experience of the candidate;
  • The incumbent will be based in Jerusalem. The incumbent should have a permit to work in Jerusalem.
