Art Appreciation -Still Life Drawing
Learning Objectives
- Develop interpersonal team working: collaborations involving selection of artworks
- Develop problem solving & resolution skills with an ability to plan, research and execute prescribed tasks, with increasing conceptual and technical proficiency.
- Develop skills in Research, Analysis, Critical Thinking and Written Communication: Critical responses to prescribed readings and independent research.
- Execute effective time management: Planning, execution and exhibition of artworks, with a cohesive thematic base in a prescribed time frame
- Develop Oral Communication skills
Design Brief
This unit will provide the student with the technical and formal means to synthesize aesthetic theory, individual research and personal expression into objects of creative, communicative and cultural value. To develop an independent, personal understanding of the visual and assist in artistic expression through the study of work and ideas by recognized artists and critical self analysis.
Constraints
- Annotation
- Initial still life sketches and drawing
- 2 Painting must be done on A3 cartridge paper
- Final Painting on canvas 500mm x 300mm

Project Requirements:
Each student will be required to complete the following investigations
- Why is Still Life drawing Important? (Complimented with thumbnail sketches)
- Oral Presentation on ONE of the following artist : Vincent Van Gogh, Herman Steenwyck, Chardin and Giorgio Morandi. (Complimented with thumbnail sketches)
- Sketches of chosen still life object
All projects must contain these evidence in their A3 Visual Diary:
