Theobjectiveofthisschemeistosupportfreshapproachesandinitiativesthatlinkheritagetocommunities,promotingactiveengagementwithheritageanditsappreciationbythepublic.
HerearesomeexamplesofpossibleprojectsundertheHeritageEducation,CommunityandOutreachscheme:
- Conference/public seminarorexhibitiononheritageofanarea; heritage publication in print and/or film/video. Conduct of workshops aiming to enhance the knowledge and skills of local historians and others involved in promoting Meath heritage.

d)As part of the Meath County Council 2016 Centenary Programme, the Heritage Office Grants Scheme will assist community and voluntary groups interested in commemorating the events of 1916.
The funding will support Projects, Activities or Events that fall under one or all of the 5 themes of the national centenary programme:
- Remember
- Reconcile
- Imagine/re-imagine
- Present
- Celebration
Groups who already received funding under Meath County Council Centenary of the 1916 Rising Community Commemorative Grant Scheme are not eligible to apply.

- Projectsthatbenefitindividuals;
- Teaching/staffinginschools;
- Travelandtransportcosts,exceptinexceptionalcircumstances;
- Equipment,unlessdirectlyassociatedwiththeProject;
- Ongoingrunningcosts,administrationetc.
3Whomayapply?
Theschemeisopentocommunity groups/organisations or individuals who are carrying out local heritage projects within CountyMeath.Onlyonegrantperorganisationispermitted.All projects funded must have a community benefit.
4TermsandConditionsofgrantPaymentundertheCommunityHeritageGrantScheme
- Please note the maximum amount of grant funding towards the cost of a project is 75% of the overall project costs up to a maximum of €1,000
- GroupsmustfullycompleteandsubmittheCommunityHeritageGrantsSchemeApplicationFormtotheHeritageOfficer,PlanningDepartmentMeathCountyCouncil,Buvinda House, Dublin Road, Navan, Co. Meath
- SuccessfulgroupswillreceiveaLetterofOfferandGrantAgreement.
- ThesuccessfulgroupmustfullycompleteandreturntheSignedGrantAgreementwithMeathCountyCouncilwhichwillconstituteacontractwiththeCouncil.
- AnyorganisationassistedundertheSchememustindemnifyMeathCountyCouncilagainstanyclaim.
- Oncompletionoftheproject,recipientsmustprovideafullprojectreport(including details of all associated expenditure)onorbeforeFriday11thNovember2016unlessagreedbytheHeritageOfficer.
- Nodouble-funding for projectsfromMeathCountyCouncilsourceswillbeallowed(i.e.fromArtsGrants,AmenityGrants, and Community Grants).
- Groupsmaychoosetocombinethisschemewithothersourcesofgrantaid (e.g. Heritage Council, IPB Community Engagement Fund etc)
- Assistanceisprovidedonaonce-offbasis.Organisationsmayapplyforandreceiveassistanceeachyear.Receiptofagrantinoneyeardoesnotautomaticallyguaranteegrant-aidduringthefollowingyear.
- AllfundedprojectsmustbelocatedwithinCountyMeath.
- ExplicitrecognitionmustbegiventoMeathCountyCouncilinanypromotionalmaterialassociatedwiththeProject–copyofdocumentationdepictingrecognition–mustbesubmittedwiththefinalprojectreport. – Include recognition of the funding.
5AssessmentofApplications

- Theextenttowhichproposedactivitiesbenefitslocalheritageandwillbenefittheintendedtargetgrouporarea
- Theuseofinnovativeorimaginativeapproaches
- Thecapacityofapplicantstocarryouttheproposedproject
- Theextentoflocalcontributionstotheproposedproject
- Criteriaforassessmentprojects/initiatives to commemorate the centenary of the 1916 Rising. The project must:
- be aligned to the ‘Ireland 2016’ themes of Remember, Reconcile, Imagine, Present and Celebrate
- connect with the events of the 1916 Rising and those who fought or died during that time with connections to the local area/community,
- be unique, innovative, creative, interesting and likely to make an impact
- be feasible so that it can be completed with the timeframe
- be of a sound historical basis
- be inclusive in theme and approach
- be organised at community level to maximise community and citizen engagement,
