COMMUNITY FUNDRAISER – MID DEVON AREA

1.JOB DETAILS:

Job Title:Community Fundraiser

Band: Hospiscare Band 4

Base Location:Searle House, Exeter (though job role will be responsible for a geographical area covering Tiverton, Crediton and surrounding villages and so remote working will be required)

Hours:37.5 per week

Responsible To:Events and Community Fundraising Manager

Accountable To:Head of Fundraising

2.JOB PURPOSE:

To maximise sustainable net income through managing, developing and supporting a range of fundraising activities to raise income and awareness of Hospiscare in the Mid Devon area.

4. KEY DUTIES:

  • To engage with the local communities of given geographical area to build relationships and seek opportunities to increase income.
  • To work with the Events and Community Fundraising Manager to assist with fundraising activities taking lead responsibility for some key community activities, including appeals.
  • To plan, monitor and manage the key budgets or activities you are responsible for, preparing financial reports as requested and ensure risks are highlighted to Events and Community Manager.
  • To ensure all key activities have a detailed project plan and budget to help manage and evaluate as needed.
  • To undertake effective research to identify new opportunities and ensure we are providing the best possible community activities and support for our supporters.
  • To work with all key internal teams to ensure they are engaged with Hospiscare’s community activity and supporting where needed including; fundraising, retail, lottery, volunteering and healthcare teams.
  • To work with the Marketing and Communications team to produce compelling marketing materials to engage supporters in our community activities and that PR opportunities are maximised.
  • To ensure social media is utilised to engage support and enhance relationships for all key activities.
  • To work with the Supporter Development team to maintain and improve community administration processes, ensure thanking and stewardship plans are in place for supporters, as well as that effective recording of information is maintained on the database.
  • To ensure that all cash/BACS/cheques go through the appropriate systems liaising with finance and the Database/Donor Administrators as required.
  • To liaise with the Fundraising Team, Support Groups and Volunteer Manager to access volunteers for community fundraising activities and manage volunteers at key events. Ensuring thorough briefing, thanking and feedback is completed.
  • To ensure all fundraising activity complies with charity law and Hospiscare policies and procedures.

5.OTHER:

  • To actively maintain awareness of professional developments within your profession.
  • To utilise opportunities for further training and development considered necessary for own practice or for the benefit of Hospiscare.
  • To attend statutory training as provided, ensuring up-dates are met within allotted time.
  • To follow Hospiscare guidelines, policies and protocols as determined by your manager and or Director and ensure colleagues under your supervision do also.
  • To enable efficient, effective and equitable provision of service.
  • To undertake other reasonable duties as required by line manager.

Personal Specification

Essential / Desirable
Education /
  • General education to A level inc. Maths & English GCSE

Experience /
  • Using Microsoft Word, Excel, Database and Publishing packages
/
  • Working with volunteers
  • Project management
  • Relevant experience in a fundraising role
  • Marketing experience

Knowledge/Technical Skills /
  • Ability to assimilate and analyse written and financial information quickly and accurately
  • Able to write communications which are easy to read and understand

  • Knowledge of Raisers Edge
  • Budget management

Personal Skills and Qualities /
  • Confident and persuasive presentation and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence with public speaking
  • Ability to form and develop excellent relationships with staff and supporters
  • Ability to work within a team

Special Circumstances /
  • To be able to attend fundraising events and activities which may be in the evening or weekends
  • Car owner / driver to travel around the area
